Yamaha drag prop on a sportmaster lower unit

I've been trying a lot of props lately and I found an older Yamaha 24p drag prop in my garage I would like to try. Do I need a special Yamaha thrust washer in order to put it on my Mercury sportmaster? When I put it on, there is about 1/8" of play because the prop nut bottoms out when the splines start.
