I was wondering if there is a way to rig analog temp gauges for my set up, 300 promax X at the helm..is there an existing wire at the ignition harness or do I need to do a complete rig from the engine itself.... I do not run smart gauges at all... thanks in advance merc heads

your harness should have the tan wire that hooks to the analog gauge. i dont know if your motor has a analog temp sensor. on my 300 opti turds. the two head sensors are smartcraft and control the warning buzzer and guardian mode if pcm senses overheat signal. my analog tan wire hooks to the temp sensor in the air compressor. i know your motor does not have a compressor. so i am unsure if you already have a factory sensor to connect to.

I did peak under the helm...doesn't appear to be any unused bottle connectors..or unconnected tan wires..I will have to look again...I have twins... so Lotsa wires under there...but the warning horns are neatly wired and cable tied to each engine harness ...I do have water pressure gauges that work....I just like temp guage a as well

Just connected my analog gauge(300xs) up but not in the water yet. What temps is the gauge showing?

The brown wire from the engine harness goes down the starboard side of motor to sender on starboard head. My X is a 2001

I will take another peak tomorrow....my 02 has lots of unused harnesses and bottle connectors on it...I think my head sender is a smart craft sender on starboard head...I remember it to be a wierd lookin..blue square

smart craft is read thru the ecu. my smart craft temp is usually around 105 running while my analog reads between 140-160 at same time. I believe one is head temp and the other is water. I have verified this using an infared heat gun.
