The last 2 numbers in the serial number indicates the model year, yours appears to be a 1986. Judging by the pictures its a sprint bottom with the older pro comp top (low deck). Im really not sure on the rest of the numbers in the VIN.

I was of the understanding that the last THREE digits was the month and year the boat was built. So 686 would be June of '86.

So far what I am getting from the answers is this:
50 is forTennessee. I wonder how 50 means Tennessee.
D is for ?????
00106 what that then? Boat number 106? Boat 1 of 6?
D is for ?????
Or does the first D belong to the numbers and/or does the last D belong to the numbers some how?
686 means it was built in June of 1986.
So far thanks for the help. I hope someone with inside information can fill in the blanks.

I think it depends when it was made, there are a couple different formats: http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm

Krazymann......that's not a 50......it the letter s.....
I would have assumed it was an S myself, maybe for Summerford or not.
But on my Title it clearly shows a 5 and not an S. Very clear, its also all in Caps.
I'm gonna assume its a letter S then even though it says 5.
I hope your not wrong.
Thanks.
Then it would be S0D with a number zero in the middle it wouldn't be the word SOD (grass) then numbers? Hey, if they screwed up the first digit, who knows. Thats why I am asking. There seems to be a lot of zeros in the title.
50D00106D686 wrong. This is on my title
S0D00106D686 right
SOD00106D686 Maybe? probably not?

The last 4 numbers: D is the month, April, 6 means it was build in 1986, 86 means its a 1986
If it read H586 the letter was a H which would be August, the next number would have been a 5, meaning it was built in August of 1985 but it was a 86 model. The cut off date used to be June, July started the next model year.

SOD is correct, but I would think what ever the title states I would go by that. And yes it's easy to confuse 5 and S from the poor printing on hull. Maybe Roark had a few too many beers that day?
