I have had good luck with the SeaStar Pro Series helm, Kevlar hoses and the Tournament Series cylinder. Run it on an STV with a 250 HO. No issues. Of course, a wing plate and side mount cylinder is the preferred system, just more money.

I went with the uflex protech 2 on my 225ho etec and I am pleased so far. I chose this model under recommendation from a local dealer who has had troubles with the seastar helms with the cold winters up here. The aluminum shaft in the helms shrink enough in the cold to cause the helms to weep and must be bled for air seasonally. But that being said I also know some people who have had good luck with their seastar products aswell. The only thing I did with my setup was use conventional hydraulic hose instead of ordering theirs. It was a much cheaper option for me as my shop has an Abundance of hydraulic supplies. And JIC fittings are much nicer to work with in my opinion.

When I decided to convert this Open Bow from the I/O power it had to an Evinrude 250 on a bracket I wanted to try the Uflex Silver Steer system. This particular boat is kind of a family ride so I was comfortable trying something new as opposed to the Sea Star Pro on my other boats. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and impressed with the quality. Now, a couple years later I would not hesitate to use Uflex in any high speed application.

Thanks for the info. I am seriously thinking of getting a uflex as my sea star is giving me issues.
Any more info is greatly appreciated

I find uflex to be a bit smoother than the sea star, might go that route next build but for now I have sea star in my sea ray and hydrostream with no issues

I had so many problems with SeaStar when I put hydraulic in my little tunnel I went with Uflex and have never looked back. I actually dont even have the Sliver Uflex, just the standard and its been great and I have a LOT of torque steer. I also think its nicer looking.

Where did you find the unit for such a good price? I paid 900 for my sea star with 12' hoses and all.

Local marina here in Ontario $1500 cdn + hoses $160 Before taxes. Sea star pro was $2250. And then I found out they started a buyer apresiasion program received $70 toward next purchase. It's alway worth it to buy local.
