View Full Version : The "hot girls" thread - Please Read

Scream And Fly

Hi all,

Today I received a warning from Google regarding the "Hot girls with boats" thread. Google ad partner policy states that participating sites must have only family-acceptable content, and while that thread was mostly well-behaved, some posts in there were pushing boundaries for sure.

For or the time being, I had to hide that post from view. It is not deleted; it is just hidden from view for now. I will have to move it to another location on the site; perhaps maybe create anew sub-forum for that and similar content.

Scream And Fly absolutely depends on the revenue from our Supporting Vendors - without it, this site would simply not exist. The very same goes for our Team Members, for which I am very grateful. But above all, I want to always keep this site family-friendly for all ages.

I hope you all understand and I will work to create a section where we can quickly restore that thread to view it again.

I did not have Google ads on my site but my domain registrar had a problem with a hot girls thread on my site and disabled my DNS for two days over it. Better to be safe than sorry Greg. I am sure the members of this site will understand the temporary change. At least your DNS master zone is not in jeopardy yet.

Maybe you can buy Havasu Barney's domain and use it as a second site.

I appreciate your understanding everyone. I'll look to create a section on the site where we can safely keep that material. It would have to be something that would not be accessible to non-registered members, for the sake of Google's ads. So, perhaps a forum section viewable only to registered members. That's one idea I am thinking about.

That's crazy - you must have really been alarmed when that happened. I didn't even think domain registrars monitored for that kind of thing. I appreciate the heads-up on that for sure. I don't want to chance that happening at all. Your site is incredible; I read it every day - I would definitely take anything you say extremely seriously, and I appreciate it! I also really appreciate your support for Scream And Fly. Thank you so much.

I am a member (RO = Registered Offender is the way Boatered names us all) and they have a paid members only section. It's called NBR for Not Boating Related but Hot Girls would definitely be boating related so it would have to have a different name. But I would be fine with a paid member only section. Actually, I would be fine with whatever you, and all of us, have to do to keep S&F up and running. I was on S&F in the early 2000s and dropped off and then came back a couple of years ago. I can't stand the idea of losing this incredible resource. Whatever it takes Greg, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of support with whatever is necessary.

Over the years, Norris and I have discussed the idea of a Team Member lounge or something along those lines. That's something that I think might work.

I also found some of the images offensive. We've had to remove some here and there, where people would continually press the boundaries of what's acceptable for our 'all ages content' rules here.

That might be the way to go if you all agree. I really appreciate all of your feedback.

He owned HeliFreak.com, which is, in my opinion, the absolute best radio-controlled helicopter enthusiast website in existence. I have been a registered user there for years. That website is huge and extremely well presented. Definitely check it out if you're into RC helicopters.

Damn, the political correctness is running rampant now.....but, I understand that the ad money from companies keeps great site's like this running. How bout a "sexy 2.5L merc thread" instead?

Must have been that one of the bald guy with a mustache on the beach trying to hold his belly in as the girl walked by and bouncing it out and knocking over the table and drinks onto his friend, that one is burned into my memory. Fun Out

There are some things on TV that offend me. So I change the channel, or turn it off. I just really don't get it how someone has to put forth effort to view something and then
complain that it is offensive. If you are offended then why would you scroll through the pages to look at it? The thoughts of a few affect the rights of many. Democracy?
Might as well get used to it. Still a great web site!

I completely understand - and that post remained there for years with mindset the same as yours; as long as it was 'PG rated', people could simply not view it if they did not like it. However, in this case, it's one of our major advertisers (Google) that has a policy I must adhere to. Without our Supporting Vendors and Team Members, Scream And Fly would simply cease to exist. This site has grown long past the point where I can support it financially, by myself. With the dedicated servers and dedicated data lines this site requires now, as well as personnel that administer our servers and database, that threshold was crossed over ten years ago. We really depend so greatly on the that support.

However while I do not permit any content above a PG-rating, I am looking to add a section to the site for more off-topic content such as that.

Greg, Would like to see it come back in a NSFW category. I think it was just shy of 3.5 million hits...The most pages and hits by far than any other thread in Scream and Fly history, so obviously most of us here were not offended by it and enjoyed it...I do totally understand why it has to go. I had my ritual which is now gone...Hulls over 20 for sale, then to the hot girls thread!

I saw a few balloon knots in there in the first 30 replies and knew it was going to be a pain to moderate to PG13. lol
