Johnson and Evinrude made 3 cylinder 70's and also 75's. What was the difference? I know someone will say 5 horsepower. LOL Are the 75's more desirable?
I recently acquired one on an old Kingfisher, and just wondered.
May just be called a Sport instead of Super Sport. I think the Johnson was called a Stinger.

The exhaust ports are chamfered and the carburetors are jetted one or two sizes bigger.

The 15" motor had a smaller lower unit.

The 75 has less bottom end power than the 70

Does that mean it has more top end power?

The porting is designed to run at the higher rpms but not sure if you would notice the 5 hp difference. I just know the 75 we put on my daughters boat is dead on bottom end but comes alive once the bow drops. I was told the 70 would have been a better all around motor for our application.

It might be good on a kneel down rig!
