Pulsing a little water where it shouldn't be?

Yup. Was getting water in #6 and sludge slightly around #4. That looks burnt and it looks as if it wasn't sealing. Broke off when I pulled the plate and looks as if water had been running through there. It's cleaner with no carbon deposits or gunk like the rest of the areas.

pretty uncommon for gasket to fail like that..

There was an old water pump impeller blade stuck in the actual cast water jacket passages. Only thing I can figure is that side of the manifold got hotter than the rest. The rubber blade was stuck towards the top stbd side. Maybe? Not sure.

i popped my promax with a divider gasket that did the exact same thing, put water in 5&6 had 30lbs more compression in bottom two holes i had to have bored .015 over both holes

Did you ever figure out why it happened? Did the gasket looked burnt and deformed at the same lower passages? Odd. I think the impeller restricted the flow and caused mine. Not sure.
Guess il replace regularly. Lucky I found it in time.

I still haven't been able to run in the Greek since replacing. Only ran on water hose and backed in the water on the trailer. No water yet.

I had gunk ouzing around the bottom of 6 and had to pull the cover anyway as I suspected a blockage due to it running hot and the gasket was not sealing well along the bottom.

Also found a dirt dobber nest blocking the hose from the poppet valve. I suspect that helped raising pressure through those holes and contributing to the leaking gasket. Along with the blade stuck in the jacket also. What a mess. Luckily no damage yet. About to go run it.

Ya I found 2 chunks of impeller and a piece of wood all in one passage. I took a plastic tube and blew into all the passages as well as stuck cinch ties into them, thats how I fished out the wood and would have never know it was there.

Good idea. I'll try that when I replace the gasket that's supposed to be on there. Dealer only had a promax gasket. Had to trim it a little to make it fit. I ordered a new gasket. Just got back from a 10 mile trip. Going to pull plugs and check it. I pulled them out after 1 mile and all seemed fine. Now to See how it held up after a long run.
