I have had many inline swivels apart and have never seen the grease fitting for the king pin down near the lower bushing. It was cast this way from the factory, just like you see when it is up about a third of the way down from the top bushing location. anyone ever seen this before?

this is the ONLY grease fitting on the king pin.

all of the micro fiche I looked at use the same generic pic for the parts diagrams.

thanks

Ive got a couple short shaft 1500's in the same location. Never really noticed it before.

Ive got an idea why its in that location. Anyone care to guess.

well, had time to measure this morning.

Both of of the short shaft mids that have the zerk lower are 1973 that I have. The zerk just happens to be exactly the same distance from the top of the swivel pin as a 1500 LONG shaft.

Im guessing the early 1500 short shafts were laid out the same as the long shafts and the zerk never got moved until later.

My 1974 and my 1975 1500 short shafts have the zerk moved up in a more central location between the bushings.

Notice my 1500 long shaft has the same clamps with no extra tilt pin holes in it. I am not sure what its deal is?, but its not just a 1500xs thing.

Im guessing the mid you posted is a 1973. Is that correct? Or is it later?
