I'm down here in south Texas. I live on the coast and I am contemplating building a flats skiff-ish lol. I just want a small boat that drafts 12" or less. 16-18' would be perfect for me. My dad gave me an Evindrude 90 spl and I have some 140 looper parts laying around I could piece mill a motor together with. The 90 is perfect and runs. Before I dive in and start a long process of a cold mold build I was curious if there may be an existing hull that I could look for used and just rework the interior for my needs. I would like something that would run 55mph or more possibly with the 90 but able to maybe take up to 150hp incase I upgrade in the future. Any ideas? Anyone know of any possible used hull models I could look for? An old bass boat hull or race hull that I could strip and convert the interior to what I want would work. Or does anyone have a mold that could lay up just a hull for me and I could do my own interior work?

Would a 14' Allison hull work ok? I really don't need a big boat as I normally fish alone and I just want something small to pick on some of these local guys.

I'm building something similar with a Laser LTV hull. It had the bass deck on it but it was beyond repair so I'm starting from scratch and shooting for a flats/skiff style with a center console. 340022

do you know of a 14' Allison available? would probably be better for a resto unless its missing the whole top or something. Also they have balsa cores and unless its been well cared for will need to be it replaced. LOTS of work, ask me how i know.....
Theres usually a Laser LTV ski or bass version available in the area that would prob be great w/ 140 looper and i dont think any Lasers had cores. Seen quite a few at $2000 or less on a trailer

Thats good to know. I only owned one Laser. It was the 15' that Louis Collins set the JP record with. I think it was the Kilo record
Never got deep enough into it to find any core. Of course back in the 80's I had never heard of core construction. I wouldve probably freaked out if i had ground into a layer of foam! lol
Klegecell probably a whole lot better at least as far as rot is concerned

Damn that boat and Louis! I went after that record hard in 83/84 and could never even get near it. Nearly 87 with a JP boat is just flat out flying. My best before Moore Haven those years was 84 and change, and cooked two powerheads trying for more. The Klegecell in those boats didn't rot, of course but the stringers sure did.

South TX, add yourself to Cajun Boat Swap on FB. Tons of great shallow running aluminum and Glass hulls on there. I just rebuilt an older mod V Sea Nymph with a Jack Plate and a 70. Only drafts about 8-10". Once I have prop and Jack plate perfect I think i'll be able to run all day in less than a foot.

We moved the tank and some other stuff under the bow. So the only thing in the back is one battery and the motor. Makes a huge difference when you can keep that noise down and pop on plane without digging in.
