1983 Maelstrom Cat this was the 2nd boat ever built. The first was a 35' and the 2nd was this boat a 30' which raced under the name Sho Me. I have the original plans from Michael Peters Design from 1981. Boat comes with myco trailer, fresh twin 2.5L 200EFI's, 20inch offshore mids, fat shaft sport master lower units, full cover. Great boat, everything works, own a true piece of history. The fastest I've seen on gps with 3 blade 28's is 83mph. Thats with 18psi of water pressure, boat will easily run 90 with herrings and raising the motors.
and YES it's 100% WOOD boat has been sitting for more than a year and needs to go to good home. Trades plus cash considered, will sell without power and without trailer cheap.
$23,000

Wasn't there one of these boats left almost abandoned up in Toronto Ontairo a few years ago? I seem to have seen one that has twin 3.4L Mercury formula offshore motors on it.

There's a yellow one that raced in the late 80's and early 90's in Puerto Rico, not sure on the LOA though.

HeyGuys,
This is the boat from Canada. I bought it and moved it to Orange Beach. It had Mercury Racing written on it, with some guys names. I cut the sides of the cockpit, as you would smash your head if not wearing a helmet. Painted and added seats, then never sprung for the 2.5 drags I wanted. I moved off from the water and just unloaded it without power. It's a real cool boat though. 1 x 4 teak with a resin coating, then wrapped with a skin.

Welcome to Scream and Fly! Thanks for posting the info. Do you have any pictures of the boat when you owned it? Esp before you cut it. If so please send them to

SOLD!
Well we will see how the old racer likes inland fresh water...I must be crazy...As usual it was great to deal with Tague. Got a tour of the new 77? footer he is working on. Just blown away at what goes into making a boat, esp at that large of a scale.
If anyone has any more info on this boat I would love to hear about it.
Thanks S&F!!

Thanks! ..Hard to miss huh? You just don't realize how big this thing is until you tow it down the road and look in the mirror to find it fills the lane up from line to line. Makes my Excursion look like a Bronco II !

Thanks...the old black paint had taken a beating in the last few years but it will get a fresh coat soon.
The beam is 10'9"..when you looked in the mirrors of the excursion it was just inside both left and right white lines on the interstate..

For what its worth: I have the VHS tape of the race where Jess James intentionally caused a condition that blew over Show-Me in a race in the '80s. It was disgraceful.
