I know most of yall are dealing with waaay bigger and fancier motors but maybe someone will have some info for me. I have a 2005 Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke which is the 2 cylinder model. Is there anything I can do to "soup it up"? Most everything Ive found online which is very few and far between is for the old 3 cylinder model. Its mounted on a 12' aluminum jon boat and has a 14 pitch stiletto if memory serves me correctly. It'll hit 41 mph with just me and the gas tank in it but there's always room for improvement. Any tips or info on anything I can do other than buy a bigger motor? Thanks!

I have a 88 25hp 2 carb that I use on my 11ft SLT. I removed the air box and dropped the spark plug heat range 1 #. I use a 12 pitch cupped prop and turn it at about 6K rpm. Prop shaft is about 1/2" below bottom of sponsons on the tunnel hull and it pumps plenty of water. To add performance I would cut the head and replace the reeds with carbon fiber models. Also if you are using the oil injection at 100to1 you should also mix oil with the fuel @ 100to1 to bring it to 50to1 to spinn it above 5500 rpm! I was also told that bumping the timing 2 or 3 deg will help her spin a larger prop. Hope this helps Gary
