05 300x engine runs fine, idles ok and has good power, when I get to 6000-6100 it acts like it's hitting a soft limiter. Any ideas what could be going on? Thanks

I owe you a dollar. The reeds are shot, almost all of them. One has a hole in it. I'm sending them to Chris Carson in the am. Thanks

I ran into that too. I resurfaced the reed blocks down to the aluminum. Lapped them in on a piece of glass and sand paper. Believe it or not, I used the side of a chop saw blade and they turned out very good. I spent very little time lapping them in. That was 1 1/2 ago or so and haven't touched them since.
I was gonna say that:D
That's like buying a powerball ticket with the winning number's .... right after the game is over .... :D
Aaron , just put the dollar tword's what the shipping cost on the beef jerky ... I still have a half a package left , I'll give vnemous a stick as a consolation prize .... ;)
Chris , I always use a belt sander , but I can see where the side of a 14" blade would work .. :D

sounds crazy chaz i know but you wouldnt believe how flat a chop saw will get reed blocks. it didnt take no time to lap them in either, thats how flat they was. the chop saw was all i had at the time and wasnt buying new reed blocks just so they would burn again. after talking with hydrotech marine, i decided to do it myself. part of some of the phase kits they do is machining the rubber off reed blocks so i said what the hell, lol

here is a pic. left side is a pic of old reeds turned around. i went with hydrotechs carbon reeds with reliefs. no trouble since. that was 1 1/2 years ago or so.

Actually , it was the first beef jerky I have had that wasn't dried to a crisp .. :D
I ran ported 6 pedal blocks with Carson reeds with great results ... the secret to making any reed live is to fix the "cold start lean sneeze"

I had a local guy make a few set's of "oversize" 5 pedal block's for me. Carson has 1 of the blocks at his shop designing a reed for it ....

Interesting reed stand too.
Interesting reed stand too.
I dropped a slab of 6061 on a gasket and traced it out . Used a opti adapter plate as a template to transfer all location points. A late model plenum flange to scribe how far I could open the entrance bell.
Todd lent me a 300x fuel rail to make a jig off of .. and away I went ... :D
I have since changed the exit opening to match the new larger reed blocks and put a slight taper from there to the runner's entrance. ( I got tired of the Mrs. calling them NASCAR restricter plates )
They were also pretty heavy . I didn't care at the time , I wanted to go riding ...
Now it seem's like the more I clip off of em , the more I see that is too thick and needs to go ... ;)

Amazing the things that you do with slabs of metal sir. I can only picture the rest of the slab this gets bolted to.

Good news, reeds fixed the problem. Bad news gears let go in the lower on the test run.
