I was looking to purchase a stock 3 blade 14.5 x 32P Mercury Cleaver for my STV Euro with a 225 Sport XS but I have a question. I have been told that the boat is somewhat designed around or performs best with the 14.5" diameter cleaver. In looking at the Mercury web site, they no longer make the 14.5" diameter 3 blade cleaver, its now a 14" or 15" diameter. My question is if I go with a new wheel, should I go with the 14" or 15" diameter in the 32P. Also knowing how the rake changes between the 30P & 32P Mercury cleaver, should I go with a 30P if I elect to go with the 15" diameter?
Any/all thoughts would be appreciated.
Another option as a last resort would be to buy the 15 in the 32P and have the diameter reduced, not something I am really interested in doing at this point.

I had a 14.5 x 30 Mazco cleaver on my Mod V P STV . It was my best prop and they worked it just for my boat . Do you have to buy a Mercury prop ? A 14 diameter will not work very good and may blow out easy . At least they didn't work for me And my boat was only 450 lbs . I had great luck with a Mercury 28 ET as well but the Mazco was the best prop I ever ran !

Like you, my best and current prop is a 14.5 x 32 Lightning ET that I purchased new from BBlades and just had them polish and ensure everything was "true"... guess you could call it a partial lab job. Downside of the Sport XS is it has a 6k limiter so I have to run the higher pitch wheels. I did try a 30" RE3 and it would run 88 on GPS with 4 on board. I have hit 96 with the 32 ET with two. Just wondering how to would do with a cleaver as I have never tried one.
I have a 30P Drag4 that that gets a little squirmy and the bounce seems to be more noticeable and takes longer the drive through.

I ran the 15" 34P cleaver on my Euro, but I had a 2.5xs with a 1.87 gear ratio and a higher redline than your 225 sport. It ran okay in stock form, but low on rpm, so I had it cut down to 14.75 and labbed by BBlades. I got my highest speed with the cleaver, 105mph, but I could never get the slip #'s as good as an ET. A 30P labbed ET had a lot better acceleration and still got me to 100mph. It would power thru the hop zone so well you hardly knew it was there.

For riding 4 people the ET would be your prop . I raced with the cleaver solo and with a very lite boat it lifted the the rear end up so it would turn on a dime without slowing much , but WOW did it handle easy and never kited the hull !

You will be able to run your motor height higher (less case in the water-less drag-more speed) with the larger dia. cleaver but they are only good for top end with boat loaded light. Its really hard to beat an ET for efficiency unless you are willing to work with DeWald on one of his four blade over hubs-best of both worlds..
