The wires do not match up in color at the 3 pin connector that goes to the ecu. Did someone mess with this or Is this normal.

Also, there are two vacuum ports on the back of the TPI. They don't seem to share a common vacuum and only one is hooked up.

Only one vac port should have a hose going to the intake. The other has no hose. As far as wire color my motor is buried under box's right now so hard to get to. Hopefully someone can take a peak at theirs for you.

Thanks Dave. I did determine that by the time the wire makes it to the 16 pin at the ecu it matches the correct position. I don't know why the two are reversed part way through the harness, but it ends up on the right pin in the end. Do you know which of the 2 ports should be hooked up? They both hold a vacuum, but I don't know if someone may have switched them. I'm ready to burn this sob to the ground.

If your looking at the ports with the harness at the top hose should be on the barb that is on the left side. Port should be close to outside of the housing. Clear as mud?;)

It is on outside most port. I guess left and right only matters which way the TPI is flipped on the block. If outer most port is right, that's where it's at. Thanks.

I should have said outermost is correct. Too much left and not enough right here today.

Should be on the right barb, what troubles are you having?

Well, if you add up all of the symptoms, it seems that my injectors are firing at a constant, single pulse width. Floods terribly at idle, won't Rev past 3-3500.

Fitting on the bottom of the plenum that has the hose going to the ECU clear?

It's actually on top, but yes. Blows in and out freely through the plenum.

TPI could be bad or ECU problem. Make sure the ground side of the new injector harness not grounded out from bare spot on the harness. Bad intake temp sensor should only increase fuel by 10%. Other than that if you could finda known good ECU &TPI to try. Early 260's had the same TPI. But finding good ones are not easy.

Just checked fuel pressure. A pretty steady 36psi. I just tried another A48 ecu, supposed to be good. I have what is supposed to be a good TPI that I am getting ready to try. Two things I noticed, if I unplug the current TPI it wants to go ahead and drown. If I turn off fuel pump, it starts to clear up and runs 3 or 4 seconds before it starts to starve. Everything is pointing to lack of pulse width control. Going for the other TPI now. If that doesn't do it, I'm gonna light a match.

Mine has an A-13 ECU.

The other TPI, no good. I'm either going to carbs or I'm gonna part it out. I'm not dumping another 1300 into this thing for an acu.

I guess I should clarify, I don't know if the TPI is good or not, but it didn't fix my problem.

Almost need to try one off a known good running engine but getting pretty hard to find a TPS in that style. When mine craps out will go with a Brucato ACU. Pricey but sure is a nice peice. ;)

I just can't do the Brucato. I would seriously consider it, but that's just too much coin for hoping. If I knew I could plug that box in and my worries were over, I would pull the trigger, but once I buy it, it's mine. I guess I could sell it, I'm just done taking a bath with freaking motor.

You can be pretty sure the Acu would fix your problem,it replaces the Ecu and tps,Chris

Hey Chris, thank you for the input sir. I do have another piece of the puzzle. The motor had set a while and initial compression readings were a bit of concern. I thought maybe the rings could be a little sticky. However, I did run about 10 gallons of gas through it in 30 minutes at lower rpm ranges. Obviously very rich, however, even with a fading battery, I have a 20 pound difference between the lowest and highest number. 100-120 and everything in between. I suppose it might be a good idea to pull the heads and make sure it's rings and not the bores? If the cylinders are scored i guess I should just sell it off as parts?

What about temp sensor on head if it's no good the Ecu will go full rich

Head temp sensor not used by ECU on old analog stuff.

Thats another issue I don't understand. It looks like I have an overheat switch in one head and no temp sensor in the other. My manual says it should lean back out once it reaches 90 deg F. But the only temp sensor I see is in the top of the plenum.

Maybe that's why I can't find it. My manual says serial #175000 and up, just doesn't say where it stops. I'm outta my water.

Mine has overheat sensor on stbd head, gauge sender on port side. Only temp sensor used by ECU is intake tempnsensor.

Well, I appreciate the help fellas, but it's game over. Pulled the heads and the nikasil is damaged. So much for my "runs perfect" motor purchase. Lesson learned.
