Strange blockage sportmaster intake

Pulled my 2.5 SM and found a strange blockage in one of the intake fins. It looks like the casting was never fully drilled out. Anyone else have this or see this? Can I drill it out?

1 flows enough to cool at 100. :D

Ive seen the sporty slots cut back toward the skeg a long way so you can raise the motor more. Especially on tunnels.
