I have a manuscript I fished out of the trash at Mercury many years ago that ECK wrote427115427120427121427121427122427123427119427120 concerning the illegal Lincolns he had to run against, and I have these photos, all 8x11.427115 I suck at uploading stuff - a couple of repeats in here.
Bernie—for many years I had ALL the Speed Age magazines he mentions—there were several great articles by Charlie about the Chrysler they ran in 1951

Bob V. THANK YOU! I am very poor at posting stuff, a single picture maybe, but this was crude to say the least. Only thing missing on that manuscript was ECK's intials or signature but I believe he wrote it. Found it in a trash pallet with all the snowmobile literature, sevice memos', interplant emos.eetc, which I couldn't save. Lost to the ages now.

The part where "Korf is holding his own despite the loss of his co-pilot during a 70 mile per hour turn" is beyond priceless. The above picture is from the 1952 race---he ran a Chrysler-----AND----a Lincoln---

I think that was his first venture into car racing?

The year was 1951--THE KOREAN WAR.

Outboard production was limited--because of a lack of aluminum--

Just like the letter says; Teams with lower budgets got NASCAR to change the rules 2 years in a row making it harder for Kiekhaefer to remain the top dog. The second year, Kiekhaefer said Adios!

Probably Belgium and Australia had numbers?

I believe we were #38 at Mercury Racing, 20 Wisconsin St., Oshkosh.

Engineering under Dick Snyder, "The Blue Room" and propeller development, were originally in the same building as #5 in Oshkosh, but was called #33. I think they got their own building on the river between #5 and #38 in the mid seventies.

Is this "Up,Up and Away" all prettied up for the 1973 catalog photo shoot? Still one of the best "studio" shots that Mercury ever made!

That is Up, Up and Away,but that fancy paint job was applied right after the 1970 Havasu OWC. Billy Don Pruett rad it at Havasu in 1971 with that basic paint scheme. He blew it over and that was the last anyone saw of that boat. :(

a 1000BP at that. much better than a 1250BP. never had a 1250BP out run my 1000BP. i held the comp record with both but the 1000 record was 3mph faster on same course next day same boat.

I think Willabee has missed this one he has a terrific picture of Percival and Spalding side by side driving 17ft full tunnel Molinaris at Bristol with the white red and blue colours of the JPS sponsors they first had these outfits in 1971 with twister 1 engines.Both Percival and Spalding did drive the early full tunnel Molinaris which was the same as yours+Rossis yellow Molinari but it was Johnson powered.Maybe we could get Willabee to add these pictures.
