Yep! Friend mine (we worked in Chitown suburbs week, but had a "lake house" (party W/E house!) 45 miles to the Fox lake chain (Blarneys). We all had keys to the house, and I was always the first to show, and last to leave! There was 4 us there with boats, as the side neighbors, and we all also had bikes, and sleds. Getting gas was a pain until Glenn (owner) looked into getting a 300 gallon tank on stilts loaned like the rural farmers use. He said if we use 100 gallons in 2 weeks, get it same price gas as the rest and refill every 2 weeks. HA! Had it by the dock, and we all had a key the pump lock. As Glenn was a good friend us, no one ripped him off. Just pump gas, write down gallons in a kitchen note book, and pay up next W/E. Damn soon we were using damn near 300 gallons a WEEK! And yep on the case "pop tops 16 OZ Merc oil". I had 3 6 gallon portable tanks assend the XS Swit, and boat never left the dock with all full 18 G, as a Playmate cooler that held 18 beers..AND I was going out with the daughter of the owner the Resort next us and she always brought more beer, and when bar tended the resort, I never needed money! Best damn times my life! Say what ya want the 70's, but "worked fine for me"! Little insane, but we lived...(WELL)! And survived the "tiny spoon" time too......just living large and didn't GAF. And still don't 40 years later now! And helps if ya "own a Merc"........! :thumbsup:

HI - I guess I am in the Anybody category - it was for real, some company in Louisiana came up with it I think. We had it at a dealer meeting at Disney one year, maybe 1998, on a big ass barge of some sort. Noisey as hell, and would about blow you off the dock when the discharge hit you. Last time I saw it.

OK, NOW I understand why the pic "Blues Brothers" shown! I looked the boat pic and knew not the same. I KNEW John Belushi as lived not far from me back Illinois when him and "the gang" played "Second City Chicago" before SNL. But a little "trivia" the movie. I was clueless the movie being made, but one day I had to do a double shift before hitting the lake party house Friday night so didn't make the lake until Saturday morning. 45 miles house to the Illinois Fox Chain. So I'm cruising along Rt 12, and think the overpass 120, Round lake? Came over and a bunch smashed up Black and Whites, fork lifts putting the smashed on flatbed trucks, and basic..WTF? Had I left Friday night like wanted late, I would have seen it all LIVE. As looking at sun movie, pretty sure done twilight, not morning. But who cares as I had "1/2 pak cigs, full tank gas, plenty beer, and wearing sunglasses"! RIP Johnny...we miss ya buddy....

Right---100/130 Avgas was available everywhere---soon the EPA mandated 100 low lead --created some problems--some teams went to CAM 2---

...It didn't really... It was just one of many short lived evolutionary exhaust silo experiments of the 99.8 cu. in. inline of that era. The next step was designing a midsection square shape port, to accept the next generation longer exhaust silo attachment. Quieting the exhaust note was also becoming a concern, in the early 70's.

Yup We had a "converted" 20H with the "toilet bowl "exhaust..... I have never to this day heard anything like a well tuned one at near 7 K rpm!!!! What I would give to live a couple of those years again! Gary

You could hear that cat running at Pelican Harbor all the way out at my house in North Miami when the wind was right. An unmuffeled Mazda rotary is indeed the most un pleasant sounding engine ever. To me the Viper v10 isn't a whole lot better.

1969 Stock Nationals at Hinton WVA - full fields of 12 toilet bowls in hydro and runabout echoing off the hills - it was great!

The best ever. Look at some of the Paris videos or Havasu/Parker. They had a distinct scream to them. Unfortunately when screaming their best, didn't last long. Leading Paris in 72 by over 20 minutes a prime example.

In 1981, he raced the same boat, after renaming it "Can Do". He won the World Championship in the boat. He died May of 1982 in Stuart Florida, along with an employee of his that worked for him at Myco, Chris Smith...While testing his new Open Class boat, a WellCraft Scarab 38' outboard, which was also named Can Do, powered by triple 450 h.p. JohnRude V-8's, when it barrel-rolled on them, going about 90 mph.
