removing exhaust tube on inline 115 tower of power

anybody remove the inner exhaust tube on an inline 115hp 6cyl mercury and drill exhaust holes in bottom of can like a bass mid, any perofmance gains?

Wish someone would respond, I have a 115 also and want it a bit louder. lol
