Stock cowling question? (200 EFI)

Tryin' to remember what year Merc/Mariner went from the more square bucket with 3 latches to the more rounded edged two latch cowl. Friend of mine has a Mariner thats titled as a '96 but it has the (I think) later style stuff. The serial tag is missing and the number on the plug has been fooled with. It looks like a "FISHY" fishin' motor.

They 1996 Mercs did have a cowling like that. If you have his serial number you can go to Merc Parts and check the style. Try
