OFF 2016 IS ON!

Dates are Nov 17th through 20th , 2016

We look forward to our annual 4 days of conviviality, golf, boasting, laughing, and in some cases crying over our lost friends. New "Oldies" are joining the ranks each year and more vintage hulls are appearing simultaneously. Look for my old buddy, Rick Adamzcyk, at future events. He attended this year with his lovely wife Donna and promised to return. It even looks like Kitson will make the trek again....Can Dave Craig be far behind? Lets all make a serious effort to reach out to as many old racers as possible and make OFF 2016 the best event we've ever had.....

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all...... See Y'all soon I hope!

Just don't make it the last weekend in Oct and Bonny and I will be there. Remember the last Friday of Oct is the Stuart air show and everyone is invited to our night airshow party.
Last years we had over 300 people attend!

We will work on that!
I really planned on doing it this year, but I got so busy with another project I forgot about it.

My plan is to be back 2016.

Lots of fun this year. Thanks for having me there.
We all missed Jackie Wilson but got to see some new faces like Andy Bullen and Steve Pinson.

Here is a Facebook link with over 100 pictures..

What is funny is back in the late 70's I was a kid but remember going to the Tavares races just because there was a car club that had the amphibian cars that would always come to the race and drive down the ramp and out into the lake. I went last year and boy the town has changed a lot. Matt

Change of plan----her who shall be obeyed at all times, has decreed she is doing the round trip of 250 miles to Bishop Stortford and back on her own.
Reason for this is the fact that we are up there again on the weekend as part of the festive season.
Upshot of all this is, I get to play in the shop for the day --------means I make big inroads into the new project!
The ships back on an even keel-----we're cooking with gas,-------eating bear, actually enjoying life again. It's still early days, but our wonderful friends all over the world have supported and prayed for us every inch of the way------there is no substitute for good friends------always there, through thick -n- thin, big thanks to you all!
Have a great day-------I'm going to!!!!

I believe your referencing the authentic & original Mt. Dora Antique & Classic Boat Show, right "downtown" Dora, at the wooded cypress park with the lighthouse, etc. 35+ years there. Yes...it sure has changed.

They would bring them to the races back then, I just looked it up and they are still around. Pretty cool.

No, he really ment Taveres. We raced and they drove them suckers down the same ramp we used to launch the race boats. I remember going to races at Mt. Dora, but that was long before Matt was born.
Jim, I was thinking the same, that I saw them at Tavares the first or 2nd year I went there. In 2010 I was at Tavares without a boat, and I think that was the year they drove the cars down the launch ramp.
BTW, You'll have to get your PowerCat out so you and Doreen can have some fun with the hull Rich is working on. It should look just about like yours. It certainly won't make the March event, but might be done for the November CRA/OFF event. In any case, I haven't seen you around lately, so hope all is well.

O.K...But just so you know, what he mentioned about there being Amphicars, didn't happen at Tavares until recent years, not back in the 70's anyway. Tavares & Wooten Park would put you to sleep, before they decided to move the boat show over there. They built all that newer dockage, bar/restuarants, multiple Charity Marathons for runners, etc., etc., there, just in the last ten years. Mt Dora had provenance, Tavares...none.

There must have been a Amphicar dealer somewhere close.
I think your right, lol.

Hi Jim how you been doing? I remember playing in the pits with the Titus boys there, I have so many great memories I wish my son could have experienced back then, the Marine stadium, Eufalla, lake Magorie, Stuart etc... I hope to make it to one of these events this year shoot me a message if you plan to attend any.

This Titus boy can also verify the amphicars at Tavares back in the day. Yep...it was interesting growing up at the race sites. There was something fun (mildly dangerous) at each one. Kids today would be forced to stay in sight and wear a helmet.

The dates for OFF 2016 are now settled. November 17th through 20th.

As you know we have struggled with conflicts around the Key West World's in the past. These dates are one week LATER than the World's and hopefully will allow a larger number of folks to come and play with us at Tavares. We need to reach out to as many OFF's as possible in this regard. I will contact the GEICO folks as their involvement was "OFF" the charts in helping us get started.

Let's make this the best event ever!!!!

I spoke with Dave Craig in January and he said to keep him posted, I'll keep him up to date. Also spoke to Carl Moesly. I don't think they will make it. Jeanne hasn't been doing well and Carl also has problems, yet he sounded good. Such great people too. Keep them in your prayers.

Bill John informs that there will be no banquet or cocktail reception at Tavares in November. So we need to find an alternate location nearby for Friday and/or Saturday night.
Any thoughts, connections, ideas? We might simply use one of the local restaurants??

Rich.
I saw Brett May today and I think he may come in Nov. Hammer on him a bit. He said Billy and Bert are wanting him to come too. I thought I had convinced him last year but he never showed.
