Bought a 20" transom euro. Already got a jack plate from hydro dynamics to fit the 15" 280 going on it. I would like to put hydraulic steering on and am wondering how to go about this, is there some sort of side plate or any other rigging I will need other than the steering system itself? Thanks, Kase

I did not like hydraulic steering when I switched to it on my HST, during sand bar talk with STV guys two of them did not care for it either. I have a Euro now and it came with hydraulic but I have not had it on the water yet. You may want to talk to a few more peeps before you go that route, you lose a lot of "feel". As far as a seastar cylinder in front of the motor, not sure how that will work with a dropped plate.

I had Jack install hydraulic on my euro when he built it a few years ago and I love it. I have a 20" 225 Sport XS. You will have to use the blinker stye trim and jack plate controls as with hydraulic steering the spokes are not always in the same position. Trim buttons on the wheel with the curled cord will eventually be wrapped around the hub.

I have it, would never go back to not having hydraullic steering. Its a little tricky retrofiting the bolt pattern in the dash but its done all the time. Look at SeaStar PRO or Uflex when shopping. My local dealer has switched to Uflex and has no regrets.
There are some lower end SeaStar units for low horsepower boats, make sure you dont buy one of those cheaper ones.
