Is there a faster top speed prop for my set up... I've got a ss 25p quicksilver 3 blade.. I'm running a 1985 winner z880 bass boat..with a 150 merc with a 2.1gear ratio..lower unit ... I want to get more top speed if possible. .. I've got a bobs hydro 8in jackplate. ..hydro steering ... fastest past I've had is 67 GPS at 6040rpm chine walk was starting, , and I'm in need of more seat time... any tip on setup and or prop would be very helpful thank you...

raise the motor heigth. get low ware pick up. you may need a 27" with extra cupping. stay away of the tempest 26. if you boat it light weigth dont use 4 blade props. i got 72 mph with a 24 " prop.

Ok thanks for the info... I'm wanting a bobs low water pickup combo.. but I don't want it to slow me down since I'm not real fast anyways.. I've heard a lot of talk about put them on and there boat loose speed and I've seen test were they gain 5mph bc rpm jump up when motor raised up.... any in put on that would be helpful...

67 isn't bad with that boat.

if your prop is stock, you may wanna have it cupped. do not cone that case, you will slow down.
try a 25p tempest. the geometry is faster with a tempest than an original quicksilver.

what year is your engine??

Your slip is 10%

Rpm is about maxed out.

Speed Is good for the hull and motor.

2.1 gears my tach must be off 500rpm around the 5600-6000 area

if your tach is off and your really running 5600, then a tempest may pull it down farther.

might just leave er along and enjoy what ya have now.

Buy some props and try them. You can always re-sell them. I look at it as renting. Or borrow them if there are people in your area.

the bobs nose could slow you down, since you dont need the nose for blow out, but do need the low water pu. the are water scoops that go over the water intake holes. thats a 75% solution to lwpu. also look into a transom pick. both methods are items thru out the board [just do a search]. seat time is only part of the total answer, [1] you need to raise the motor to even or 1" above the pad , [2] how wide is the pat needs to be around 7-8", [3]set back [4] the prop and how its been worked over. it looks like you have a 25 tempest that need worked. ive used nick's prop in indiana, he was a tester for tubro props and seams to know what he's doing.

Tempest or Trophy... Raise the motor another half-inch. You should be able to get near 6400 rpm.

Thanks guys.... I've filled top three holes on lower unit ( my new 1.87) and repainted it hope I can run it at least 1" bellow or better yet even.. if not I'll look into transom mount pickup.. just worried about getting it primed,, (transom mount that is)...

I have the same motor on a pad boat. How much does your bare boat hull weigh? BTW, I would NOT go with a 1.87:1 lower w/ that motor. In my experience the XR2 just doesn't have enough displacement to swing that gear ratio effectively. I predict you will be unhappy with the overall performance with that. The 2:1 makes that motor snappy. I can tell you my set-up and speed, and you can go from there. My boat is a 17' Cee Bee Avenger Mach II. The bare hull weighs somewhere south of 900 lbs. I have the top three water intake holes plugged. My jack plate raises the motor up so that the prop shaft is about 2.5" below the pad. Any further up and it sucks air. I do not have a nose cone. I have tried many props, and - believe it or not - the fastest prop I have tried, and am using today for speed, is a 27P Quicksilver Laser II. It is a good speed prop for light, fast boats that don't have LWPU. Oh, my top GPS speed with that one is 73.6, running somewhere around 6200 rpm.
