Took my boat out on Saturday As luck would have it I snapped of the drive shaft in the power head. Looks like I am going to have to pull the power head because the broken part is still in the crank any tips or suggestions on getting it out. Thanks in advance ,

used to use long wire bent at last 1 inch and ground one side to remove oring on v4/6 omc's,then long piece of stainless brakeline to my airhose nozzle also last 1in.bent.if greased use brakeline and tape small hose from brakecleen can and clean remaining grease and blow air till it pops out.hammer on top of crank helps sometimes.remember don't force it -get a bigger HAMMER. most times breakclean/and air works-th

You mite try starting it.Dont let it rev, just idle a few seconds. It may just fall out.

Yeah, what he said. You might want to pull a plug wire or two to make it run rough.

Same thing happened to our race motor. Didn't have to disassemble to get the shaft piece out. Just sort of popped out after the motor cooled off. I would try the long-reach magnet as recommended by flbum.

Had it happen once on a newly assembled motor.
I took a 3/4" (I think) dowel rod and put a spot of 5 min epoxy on the tip, pushed it against the driveshaft stub then taped it in place until the epoxy kicked.
Kind of a hail mary attempt that I didn't expect to work. Pulled the dowel rod out a few minutes later not thinking it worked and the damn stub was glued to the end of the rod!

Good luck. PS, I had already tried the other suggestions w/no luck.

Gotta love JB Weld Epoxy. Saved my butt many times. Great idea, and good thinking!
