I know there are a few still running v-8s on the Daytonas. I am looking for some input on prop selection for mine.
21 Ft Eliminator Dayton. v-8 300 mostly stock. 13" setback with jackplate. Here are some #s.
Bravo 4 blade 26 75mph @ 6200
Chopper big ear 24 65mph @ 6300 Way too small
Raker 24 77mph @ 6200
Bravo and Raker giving too much bow lift at speed.Feels very loose. Looking for someone who has run this setup and has advice on what i can try next.
bravo and raker non surfacing runs better deeper chopper runs better surfaced looks like your prop shaft height to low on the chopper need to be around 1 1/4 inch below

Yea i ran the chopper high and low. Didnt do well up high and even worse down low. I dont think 24P is going to be even close to what i need. Hitting the limiter at 68Mph. I can go 3" below and 3" above if needed.

From what you listed above.... I might suggest to try a Hydromotive thru hub style in 14.5 QIV X in a 27 or 28 pitch. The thru hub should work better running lower engine heights also as mentioned so you can play with heights more.

Hey I'm new to the site and have the same boat and motor was wondering if you ever found out a prop that worked for you? I just put a 300 promax on and have a fat shaft with no real idea of a prop size to start with.. And just wondered what gearing you had as well? Thanks for any help..

I finally settled on a 4 blade Bravo 28 pitch. Puts me right in the rpm range i need to be at 6200 and great hole shot with 90 mph. on Gps. Gearing is 1:87. I tried a Raker 27 but had way too much torque steer when high on the plate.

Well I've got 1.75 gears and I'm trying to borrow a bravo 1 3 blade 26 to get a starting point.. I still have to break in the motor it has 0 hrs on it.. I'm being told that there needs to be holes drilled into the hub to help with cavitation issues how big should the holes be and do you have any info about this?

Glad to see you found a prop that does what you want and got your speed. Are you sure on the gear ratio, because plugging the numbers into the prop slip calculator shows -2% slip, and 4% slip with a 1.75 GR, which is excellent.

You might try a Drag4. The other prop that does surprisingly well semi surfaced with not as much bow lift is a Rev4.
