View Full Version : Crossflow 175 Johnson question

Just bought a 175 Johnson that was a recreational lake motor. The exhaust filler blocks in the bubble back are gone(not melted or damaged but just not there). Owner says motor ran great for the year he had it. It was rebuilt like this he says. Question-will this hurt overall performance and long term, will this be an issue? (Always wondered),,,Thanks

bubble back motors are called that for a reason,and the reason for the bubble is to accommodate the filler blocks.i would think running it without them would hurt the bottom end of the torque curve quite a bit.

The factory used to make a replacement filler block kit. p/n 392001. For the 175 V6's. It's been discontinued for a number of years. The factory no longer maintains stock on that kit. There are a number of US based Evinrude dealers here in the US that still have new stock left over for sale. See your Evinrude dealer for the complete list. Here is one dealer that has one kit int stock:
