I like to bring this back to the surface from time to time.
Helps bring us back to reality when we think we know everything there is to know about going fast.
PS, make sure and watch to the end ;)

Very cool.
I read on another site that the owner was a big time Glastton dealer.
Small block on nitrous w/an Alpha drive that he shortend height of and made his own extension box.
Thats why it looks like a Blackhawks while tilted up

Just realized the 25' Talon had triples. Way cool.
Also the Glastron Special (known/produced by another name) was flying too. Can see the driver of the winning boat was on his deck helping at dock.
Remember too, this was in '94, 20 yrs ago!
You're how fast now, after spending how much money?

"Your how fast now, after spending how much money?"
That hits it out of the park makes me think of Trex Charlie M and you building from what some would think was scrap:thumbsup:

One of my hero's, Ray Neudecker told me one time, "I love digging broken parts out of someone elses trash, bolting it back together and beating them with it".

You mean Rich at Performance Engineering, aka RLC...wasn't the first one to invent this type of Merc Alpha drive modification? Hard to believe.

I believe Canadian. The video is French (as in Quebec) translated to English. The name of his dealership is in the video.
Can also see where he modded the cavitation plate. Note, he also started it in gear.

I love it when this rolls around,
Yes, if anyone can not view Gary's link see if mine works,
http://users.vermontel.net/~dcma/Boat/Video/LiveLeak.com%20-%20Powerboat%20top%20end%20shootout.mp4
And this is a CVX 16, these are a pad V hull. The CVX20 is straight V, other than the jet version, not a hull that will run like this without work.

Yep.
That's why I mentioned it. In my search for the video I came up on old thread here (video was gone) where someone gave Danny **** for thinking it was a Blackhawk ;)
It does look like one too.

bobino marine was a talon dealer back in the day. I remember him brigning a new talon 3 weeks in a row on friday night and selling them buy sunday morning on lac simon where we had a cottage. he was the go to marina for fast boats in the 90's.
I remember when he braught a red 25 talon with 260's, he raced a guy with a 21 cougar with a good running johnson V8 and the guy told him " if you beat me i'm buying this talon" he beat him fare and square and he baught the boat right at the lounching ramp. those where the days! I was 7rs old in 94 and remember alot of these boats like it was yesterday!
on a sad note, the purple/blue 21 cougar you see in the beginning of the vid and running at 0:46min flipped over at 120 running on nitrous not to long after this. the guy survived but was really messed up.

Love my CVX20.
Thank you for posting this , It brought back a memory about this boat. I was in a bar here in ON and after a few pitchers had a conversation with some guys about that boat and the competition. I ended up forgeting the conversation. Damm cheep beer hangovers.
800 ++ HP in a 17 ft. boat and it ONLY does 125 mph I call that
EMBARR A$$ ING:nonod:
If it really did 800hp , maybe with more gear and prop it would have gone faster, maybe the lenght of run kept it from stretching its legs and winding out with more setup, maybe he didn't want to burn it with more load, still beat the rest.

:iagree:Sometimes its better to just lay out enough to get the job done and keep everyone wondering!;) Gary
