Looking into getting some 32 cleavers. Its a mtr23 with 280s. Spins 14.5x32 et copys to the limiters at 112 solo. Wonder if 15 inch diameter cleaver will get more big end and give the boat more lift or will it not be able to spin them up? Any info is welcome as trying props that dont work is expensive haha

What altitude do you run at? a lot of guys that ran at or near sea level would run cleavers. When the would come up to Salmon Arm for the reunions they just wouldn't perform at 1475'. had to use to much trim to make the boat fly and killed the speed. Might be more cost effective to have your limiters raised vs spending a ton of money trying props that wont work.

I swung 15 X 32 Merc Cleavers (3 Blades) on my Spectre 30 with both 300 Promax's and 300XS's. Boat ran 95-99 MPH. FWIW.

The diameter of the prop will not keep you off the limiters if your already on them with the 32,s you have. 15 Diameter of the same pitch will give you more rotating mass to turn and may keep you just off the limiters but at a slower rate of speed? 32 means in one rotation you move 32 inches forward thats it. You could have the props you have made to 33 pitch. that will give you more top speed. Raising the limiters will also give you more speed. if you have excessive slip with the 32,s you have going to a 15 dia might be beneficial. you need to provide the case ratio and rpm your maxing out at? if you have 1.87 gears and you have stock 7500 rpm limiters then you are running very efficient right now with those props. Your slip is only 8% thats great!! Diameter isn't going to make those 280,s sing more rpm is. A very common thing to do is add 260 electronics to your motors. That will up your rpm to 8200 or better depending on what box you swap for. as an example lets say you can turn the 32,s to 8200 rpm. Using the same 8% slip number and 1.87 gears your theoretical speed will be 122 mph. you may not get there because of other factors but uping the revs is your best bet since your on the limiters. This gives you more options with prop pitch also. you could turn 30 pitch props to 115 with a 8200 limiter and get there a whole lot quicker!! if your speed was slower and your slip numbers were much higher going to a larger dia prop might be the answer but i would not think in your case its going to make much difference with those motors on your boat. Sounds dialled in nice just need more revs is were I would put my money.

THanks for the feedback! Would the 15 inch diameter carry more weight? Wanted to try the cleavers to figured it would have more big end cause of the stern lift instead of bow lift like the et have. Any thought on that ?

Want to go 14.5 diameter cleavers. Right now one box has the 7750 and other has 8250. Getting raised this winter. One hits the box and the other just keeps going haha. Trying to

I'm in Illinois. 800ft ish. Altitude not my worry. Just don't wanna waste money on a set off cleavers is the round ear props are better. Figures when with myself or 1 person. 14.5x32 cleaver would be a good direction for big end.

If it was me would spend the money raising the limiter on the one motor 1st. See how it runs after that.JMO
