The first full (1,000') pass I made after my licensing pass was as good as I could have expected - 3.70 at the 660', 5.15 @ 160 at the 1,000' and coasted to a 6.64 @ 139 at the 1,320'. The power the new motor is making was overstressing some of the hardware so we didn't run any more passes after that, but I think we've got a great baseline to work with to get after my goals next Spring. I know 99% of you guys don't care about inboard boats, but I love all fast boats, and figured maybe some of you guys do too.

I think it's awesome... but you got the motor where the cooler goes, so you might have to put a rack on the back and put the cooler where the motor goes?

Beautiful ride Dale:thumbsup: just cause it's got a dipstick don't mean it ain't Bad Ass, not many outboards can do that.
You also have some Bad Ass ducks out west, in the second pic it looks like they could care less about all that noise or was that pic taken just before they all took off when you launched?

HA! Ya cracking me up here on ducks! I know the Discovery Bay area, and them probably "illegal Mex ducks", and they aint going anywhere"! Up here there munching not "bread", but probably "weed". Heck. had a seagull at the marina following some kid around looking for a "hand out". Zero scared people but better "feed it", or chit on yer boat"! Now on Midwest ducks, "Blarneys/Fox chain? The DO "fear" a XS Merc! Maybe don't like the 2c whine? But love (like anybody with ears).."car motors when mounted PROPERLY! Not muffled and stuffed in a some "dog house". Wish the best Dale....beautiful "ride" and be damn proud it as we can see the.."dedication" put in it! ;) Pick midwest "ducks"

This video isn't that great, but it's better than nothing. This is a 3.75 1/8, 5.30 @ 151 pass (shut it down early), but still shows how hard it leaves and accelerates, even after the shift. It's indescribable how hard it accelerates - from the hit all the way through high gear!

We built an all new long block, but stayed within the parameters of what the old motor was so that the tune wouldn't change - as the boat has been raced for five years without failure. It's basically a 13.5:1, 468ci steel block chevy headed deal with all the best parts/build inside with a 12-71 blower/hat on alcohol. Titanium valvetrain allows us to spin it 9,000rpm, which is why the boat's able to do what it's doing. I've got the best in the business out here helping me also. The boat is well known here on the west coast, as it has been raced since it was built back in '96. The boat was built for a TAH guy, but was refused because it was too light - it only weighs 380#s bare (he wanted a 410# boat for TAH). It's been exactly one year since I bought it and started going through it, and it was awesome to have it run so great off the trailer this past weekend after spending so much money and putting so many hours into it. As strong as our #s were this first weekend, I'm confident that we'll achieve our goal of breaking into the 4s @ the 1,000', without exceeding our 165mph open-hydro speed limit.

Damn, I LIKE the looks that ride! Big fan of the orange/black shield, white hull! But as always have had V bottoms or flats, seen plenty Hydros, but never paid much attention launch/retrieve. Looking at this pix again, just how do ya launch/retrieve with the sponsons below the fender/wheels with out contact? I got my theories, but that just my old brain thinking again! By the way, my nephew lives Mountain View (SF) good friend farther west you in Auburn, and brother lives on Lake Wildwood/Grass Valley.

Again great work the boat!

I'll take a "egg beater" over a "squirt boat" any day! Curious though..as "what other site"? I think I know but?..(PM me if not wanted public). Plus thats a real "tits 2B prop" that ride, similar one I use my Flatty 2B SS props RULE!

Thanks, and yes, I have the best of the best helping me out (Joe Shelfo, as I mentioned in an earlier post). Not only that, but this was a proven boat when I bought it - it has won numerous championships in 8.0, 7.0 and 6.0 (1,000') over the years. I'll be at Firebird for the WFs, but I won't be running the boat. I'm flying down Friday night and flying back out Sunday night - can't get the amount of time away from my business that it would take to tow down there and race the event. If you're going to be there, come by the Problem Child or Shazam pits and introduce yourself - I'll be in one or the other all weekend.

Thanks, and yes, the boat is sitting too low on the trailer - we have to back WAY deep to get it off/on to float the sponsons over the fenders. I'm going to raise the bunks a couple inches this winter. Your family/friends all live within a few hours of me.

Getting time away for this racin' stuff isn't always easy, that's for sure! And no doubt, Randy is killin' it this year. I'm looking forward to lots of great battles between the two "red boats" next year when Tony's achille's is finally 100%. ****, I think I have as much fun when I'm not in a boat at the races - because then I can drink and have more time to BS with everyone!

It would work, but I honestly can't say how well. You'd be much better off in a hydro specifically built for outboard power, such as a Pughe.

Great ride you have. Would an OB work on something like that?

???????????..why? Wait, just messing ya as maybe a IF? Toss a transom on, add 3 IL 6 old Mercs with megaphone "stacks", 3 each doing 2 pistons so thats nine right? Plus 2 strokes? Well, the car motor zoomies the ride only got 8 and a 4 stroke motors.. Hmmm.. Now being OB 2 stroke 3 pak motors (same HP maybe, but need six total (and more) to match the worked "Carmotor" BB, and here comes the weight) with 18 cylinders, 9 megaphones? Gotta admit the TORQUE a launch Dales boat? Woof! BUT ITS ALL IN THE NOISE! "And socks at the waist a launch, until the chutes come on and "return" back! Acceleration RULES! ;)

Dale, saw the post the other forum you.."Hell Rayzor" HA! Too bad ya can't make the race. BUT? To hang the "boys" in the pits, "Problem Child" or Shazam? I would be like meeting Eddie Knox? Like Waynes World "I'm not worthy"
Wish the best ya Dale as the dedication? Damn gearheads!;)

I get down that way NorCal, love to do a FAST meet ya, not suck yer time up with "stupid" questions, just a fast beer us, and look at the boat. DAMN! LOVE the orange and black (55) years HD's now, BUT THINKING. Get the hull painted with the new (EXPENSIVE) chrome paint" HA! Use it as is and enjoy "thrill many will never get the chance to say.."DAMN! Wish the best Dale.

Not really. We have a 165mph speed limit and are limited to 1,000' passes with open cockpit blown alcohol hydros now. But even with these restrictions, I coasted through the 1/4 mile lights to a 6.64et at the 1,320' (let off the throttle at the 1,000' buoys, as we're required to do) - that's nearly a full second quicker than Jon's best pass ever at the 1,320' (and this was only my first full 1,000' pass). Though one second may not sound like a lot, it would put me over 200' ahead of Tinker Toy at the end of the 1/4 mile. To put one second quicker into perspective in dragboat racing, the TFH are only one second quicker than the TAH, and the TAH are only a little more than a half second quicker than my BAH. A one second difference in ET is huge in drag racing, especially in the classes that are running over 150mph.

Awesome boat. It looks like a boat that belonged to a friend of mine. Mark Bates, may he rest in peace.
Another friend of mine made a 4.10 660 foot pass with his jet boat. He was running against an 8mph current, and plans to run 3.90s.
