I currently have a 30 inch bracket on my formula 233. How would the handling / performance be affected if I reduce the bracket offset to 23 inches?

Nobody has an opinion?
I am just wondering if changing my bracket to a shorter offset, would eliminate how low my power-head is in the water when coming off plane. This also happens when in gear but not on plane.

I am not sure I understant the '' offset ', means. Do you mean a ''setback '' ??

Yes.
The current bracket extends 30 inches from the transom.
I want to reduce that to 23 inches or so to reduce power head dipping when coming off plane

add a skid plate to the bottom of the plate. and put "flotation" inside the plate. if you can.
what kind of jack plate (bracket) do you have??

A reduction in setback will also most likely result in a reduction in top speed. However it will improve the rough water handling of the boat. I did the research on setback for a Wellcraft Nova 230 and ended up running with 20 inches of setback with V8 outboard as a good compromise for speed and rough water ability for a lakes boat.
