too much trim trying to catch up. Happens alot in outboard drag racing. Thats why we like to sit by the finish line:D

mike its pretty bumpy there, but boy they put on some show, not really I just watched again. he came off the throttles, its a natural instinct, we talk about it all the time, stay in it and push the down buttom, and hold on

Boat set up totally different from race trim. He definitely wasn't off the gas until that thing was almost vertical.

if I had to quess on the straight aways between 100 and 105 but all those races are won and lost in the turns, so proping is key they need to boggi out of the turns

it just amazes me the amount of money that is invovled in that venue... I like to know how many Rolls Royces are won and lost in those races

Fazza runs north of 120 consistently in the straights. They have those boats set up to slide around the turns so that they don't load the motors and loose rpm. The boats are being made shorter and lighter all of the time and if its rough at all then they conveniently post pone the race until the next day. They defiantly haul the mail in the flat water though.
No question that they are promoters 100% and its a big deal for guys like Gary to be racing over there with them.

that Faza boat is incredable, I knew someone that raced with them they would fly him first class via Conard to england than to Dubui, what a gig that was..... Than Zero Defect came here for a couple of years he was some Sha's son Lath Farone, Mike Dury was the throttleman, talk about a show, at that time I was videoing the races and I had an onboard camera in the cockpit when he ran over a boat in Malory Square, talk about controvery his family wanted that tape so bad but I never published it or gave it up, I gave them my word and kept my word till this day

From what I am used to running in (Lake Michigan and the Atlantic), yes I call that calm. You need to remember that those boats weigh in at around 3400lbs so it doesn't take much for them to leave the water. Gary has seen many races cancelled or delayed due to water conditions that he was ready to run in but the X-cat officials deemed to be too rough.
Go run in Key West or Cocoa Beach and that's offshore racing with real water conditions. The stuff they were running in looks like Sarasota or Clearwater "calm". The water that I really crave is LOTO 4 foot chop that you have to drive over--separates the bedwetters every time!!!

That's a Doug Wright they cut the deck off and put a Victory deck on.
They got the boat put back together in time to race and I believe they blew it over again that weekend.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_HcQ4gTfwg
they show the damage and repair in the first 2 minutes of the video and blow it over again at 20 minutes.

I think at one time or another we have pushed when maybe pull was in order, but the juices are really flowing when racing and sometimes you just push on, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you dont,

I know these guys are experts in set up, and boat building. But I have to think myself, that the cg was too far back on that boat. Two flips in two days says something is not right.....

Yep the wave sent him up and when the props touched down he was still WOT and the faster turning wheels wheelied him right back into the air just as he hit the wave also. it was a real bad combination... haha glad they were fine. That looked increadable those sick boats dragging down the straight like that!! very cool!
