I just bought a super nice gt 160, and the merc 1350 is in great condition as well. Just mounted a 4 inch set back manuel jack plate on it. I have no idea where to start on a prop for this. Just want some thing with decent holeshot and good top speed. Its just a lake cruiser, but want it to perform well. any advise is welcomed. thanks.

If that 1350 is all original it has a 1.78 to 1 gear ratio. I'd probably start with something in the 17" pitch range. Make sure it's reaching the upper 5000's for rpms.

18 small ear chopper? Do lasers come as small as 18?

22 pitch chopper, or a 22 pitch Lightning ET. You need an RPM gauge, it might be able to turn a bigger one.
Try 2 inches under for the lower. If the boat bounces raise the engine a little bit at a time, make sure water pressure doesn't drop off.
Inlines like 5800 - 6000 RPM Wide Open Throttle. No more then 6000 RPM and there is no REV limiter or over heat bell.

I don't think it will pull a 22" if it has the 1.78 lower.

The lower has been swapped, for what I ASSUME is a later gear box. It has a 19 pitch stainless on it now. GPS 52 mph with me wife and my boy riding. Hole shot is good. Cant say it runs bad with this, but would it pull a little larger pitch, with a different style blade, or if it let some exhaust over the hub?
Shamless plug....what a nice boat! shame they don't make em anymore.

As has been said, you absolutely need to get a tachometer and see what it's turning at WOT. Figure out what gear ratio you have also.
And I agree, those are cool boats!

another question? are there any other motors that have props that interchange with the merc in line 6? might find a couple used ones to try out. thanks again.
