Any S&F guys down in the Carrollton TX area? I found a 70's Muscle car I want to buy but it's on Craigslist so theirs no way I'll send the guy any money to hold it. I'd really like to find a legit DEALER down there that would purchase the car so I could run the deal though them and have it shipped. I've been in contact with the seller and have a bunch of pics but he's in the Air Force stationed in Montana. It seems like a legit AD but you never know with Craigs??

Yea, I'm in Coppell, its right next to Carrollton. How is he wanting you to look at it if he is in MT?

The seller has a friend helping him. The seller is taking e-mails for questions about the car and the friend has his phone number posted on the AD and is showing the car to people. I haven't called or text the number because I don't really see any point in it since I can't go look at the car. I might have a few people here that would go pick up the car but I don't want to send them when I can't even be sure 100% that the car is there.

Cash deal in person is the only way to buy a car. Do you ever see Gas Monkey or any other pro doing it any other way?

I see. You're right to be weary, a lot of scams originate on CL these days. I'll give you a hand if you want to follow up on it, just shoot me a PM.

I emailed Gas Monkey because they are only 5 miles from this car and they showed no interest in it. I figured Richard Rawlings would do anything for an easy commission but he's like a rock star now so I get it!

You couldn't have been more right about this! 1Bad went and looked at the car for me and helped me purchase the car, he even kept it at his house until the shipper picked it up. Anyone looking to buy or sell anything from 1BadAction won't be disappointed or have to worry in any way...great guy!
Well here she is!

Nice car... 72,73, 455? Jim is the man when it comes to knowing good machinery. Good guy all around.

It's a 1973 Trans Am, all had 455's and this one has a stick so that makes it a somewhat rare car, only 1420 out of 4800 T/A's had a stick that year.

In 73 I had a very rare 455 SD. 400hp and went 6500r's Ordered it new. White with black interior. 4 speed, loaded. Damn fast car, and now days I feel like a fool for selling it a some yrs later. Never thought of it being a collector car. Worth a bunch now... Paid $9,500 new? Seeing yours brings back memories of long smoky burnouts on the G-70-15 tires.

Oh man, SD's (Super Duty) are going for over $100K on Barret Jackson now days. I think only 72 SD's had a stick? So...yeah...you should have kept it!! I sent the VIN into PHS and my car sold new for $4200 so I bet you only paid about $5500 for the SD. If we only knew?? LOL!

Great looking car Paul. That color is Buccaneer red. The Super Duty's were only in 1973 and 1974 and came in three colors Buccaneer red Apollo white and Brewster green. The most interesting of the Super Duty's were the formulas as they had the Trans Am hood scoop instead of the formula hood scoop. very cool very awesome cars. Good score for sure.

They made an even more rare bird, a Formula with the 455 SD in it I believe. The dealership owners son talked me into ordering my car, telling me about the "race" motor. I paid more than 5500, but the car had dealer added stuff. Under coat, and front brake lights (crazy I know). I also had them take the bird off the hood. It was black and orange? I still have an 81 Z-28 that I got new. It's not stock tho...
Edit... flowmax beat me to the Formula option....lol

This car unfortunately isn't stock either. The seller told me he stuck $15K into the motor and trans in 2005 and drove it less that 1000 miles since. It has aluminum heads and Edlebrock intake and carb and headers. He said the tranny blew on the dyno so he put a new T-5 in it. The motor has a very noticeable lope to it. I'm trying to round up the parts he took off the car, he said he knows where some might be.
Now the 71 Formula I'm building only has one stock part left...the body!!

Looks very similar to my plan for my 2nd gen camaro TX car thats been sitting around collecting dirt for the last 23 years. Was the rear suspension a bolt in kit for the most part? I see a crossmember for the upper links that isn't a stock part.

It's a Ride-Tech stage 2 kit. Everything bolts in but you have to have 4 tabs welded onto the rear for the upper links to bolt to. Ride-Tech gives you a jig so its easy to find the placement for the tabs but I can't weld so I had a neighbor tack them into place then I took the entire rear to a shop to get welded. I also did Ride-Tech's full muscle bar with coil overs up front.

Are you going to run the low mount AC?

I put a Vintage air unit in but for now I just hooked up the heater hoses so I have defrost. I do have the stock GM parts that were on the LS2 but I may go with all Vintage Air down the road? It will mount high...lots of room on that side. I did have to relocate the alternator with Corvette parts.

Well it was my pleasure Paul, for sure. Glad it arrived up there without issue, I was as nervous as a whore in church up until the point I knew you had it in hand.
The only problem is now I have the bug to build a GTO with a 455 in front of a 6 speed and not enough room to do it. :p Oh well, maybe I'll make the master bedroom into more garage space. :D

I'm just glad it all worked out for Paul. I was sweatin until he had the car in his hands. Glad to see he got a decent tire on that thing, the ones it had on it would spin if you breathed on the throttle.

Yeah, those tires were new but looked really bad, the wheels were super faded also but I had a decent set of Rally's that were on the Formula so I put a new set of 255/60 Radial TA's on all four and they look just right on this car. I want to keep it as original as possible but 225/70's are just to narrow.
