Hi,
Running an SSM on a 1500XS mounted to a Switzer Shooting Star have a three blade Merc round ear 4849804-13-17 has "7" cast in each blade at hub.
I need a touch more prop to get rpm's down 200 to 300 RPM. Other than that it runs pretty good.
Its has right hand gears 16:15 (?) or close to that but it's not a 1:1.
Steckbauer converted my blown up lefty to a righty....if he used 1:1's I'd be fine but I'm not.
Anyone got props or ideas?
Will trade props I have plus cash or just cash.
have lefty's and righties two blade, three blade Mercs all round. Also a few OJ two blades.

what is the pitch of the prop you are running now? got a pic ?

by all indications it's a 17 pitch.

Send yours to a good prop guy for evaluation.Mite be able to tweek yours and get your 200/300 rpms.Just a thought.

If it's an SSM and NOT 1:1, you'll find your gear ratio is 14:15 unless it's a single pinion unit from a 650X/700X in which case it would have had to have driveshaft work. That would be a 13:16. You shouldn't be over turning a 17 on a 1500XS on a Shooting Star unless you're slipping it. The old round ears won't run as high or hold as well as a cleaver. If you find a 10 or 10 1/8 by 15 or 16 cleaver I doubt seriously you'll slip it or over turn it.

randy, I have a sea bold rh 10 x17 and a dick o day 10x18 both are both ssm cleavers give me a call thanks , endolake 518-425-6125.
