I am installing a 16 amp lightweight flywheel and stator from a 260 on my Pro Max 225 but there are no timing marks on the flywheel. How do I set my timing? Is there a way to find 25 degrees BTDC after I determine TDC?

You need a degree wheel to mark the flywheel.....or a dial indicator like the one Jay smith sells that will tell you TDC and then you can degree it back 25 degrees

I have the dial indicator I just need to know what is 25 degrees.

Thank you. So find absolute TDC and back it off .150 thousandths?

Outasite nailed it!!! But After you find TDC rotate the flywheel till the Indicator reads .200 ths then back it up to .150. That makes sure there is no dwell/play in the rotating assembly.

Jeff, if you look very carefully I'm sure you will see a couple of small markings on the top ring that the flex plate bolts to, still confirm all.
Also got your text and just responded about using a flywheel cover or making a pointer.
I think you really need a STV, Hydro, Skater, Allison, Liberator, Talon etc. Then TB box with removed limiter, chest work, rod slots, 32CC heads, 280 rods, Merc top pin pistons and on, and on.....;):D Leave that motor alone already and take the kids tubing or fishing buddy.....;)

Tony, your right....a nice STV with a modded 2.5 Drag would be ideal. I'm not happy until I get every pony out of a motor. That's part of my problem. LOL:D
Your the one who told me go with the lightweight 16 amp flywheel.

Sure blame me.....:D Did someone mention I REALLY like to get a Dunn light weight flywheel and did someone say why not just get a Mercury stock 16 light flywheel if you REALLY have to have one that you will achieve the same result and save some $'s.....:p:D

I think I'm hearing voices in my head to leave that motor alone and go boating!!......:reddevil::D
OnTime just posted on your other thread that you need to check your engine harness over carefully...........:D

Bobby, nothing yet, he said he will let me know though. Do not think he is getting much call for them.
I actually just had him balance 2 16amp lite weight stocker's for me.

I am going to check all the wiring harnesses, especially the harness buried in the air box for the injectors. I am wondering if I pinched a wire when I put the 1" spacer on the intake, and it wore through or is shorting.
I love reading the post from you old guys. They make me laugh.:D:reddevil:

Well.....I made a pointer for my motor tonight and marked TDC and 25* degrees for all 6 cylinders on the flywheel using .150 on my dial indicator. I then timed all 6 cylinders to 25* BTDC. I did find that 3 timed in at 23*, 2 at 24*, and 1 at 25* BTDC. Is this common that all 6 don't time in at 25* BTDC? I set the timing for 25* BTDC on one and the others ended up as I mentioned.
I also set the TPS at .276 volts at idle. It measured 7.64 volt at WOT. Boy they weren't kidding when it was said these things are touchy. LOL

It's not uncommon for the variance. That's why you check all 6.

Thanks Dave!!! I'm glad I checked all 6 because if I just set #1 at 25* some would have been 26* or 27* and I know that's too much. right now I have just one cylinder at 25* BTDC.
