I want to add a hour meter to my 2010 225 Sport XS DFI and was thinking of picking up one of those induction type in which you wrap the lead a turn or two around a spark plug wire. I don't want to drill the dash and think I could mount the unit under the cowl. Question is will this limit or affect the spark to the cylinder its on causing issues?

i put a "motominder" under my 260 cowl since its last rebuild. used velcro & stuck it right on the newly renicked block near #2 cyl.works great, only counts when engine is running. logged 44 hours so far... lol in 5 years!

I put one on in June, and it works great. Actually, I like it so much that I was thinking of adding length to the wire and mounting it where I could monitor the RPM as mine also records max. I had to locate the wire closer to the plug itself to read well. No other issues to report
Gary, I put 26 hours on it already...

why not get something like the Livorsi Vantage View? Then you'd have plenty of stuff at your fingertips.........

Why don't you just get the SmartCraft? You computer already logs the hours.

motominder,$35.if it holds up on my dirtbike with all the abuse, water, mud ,vibration, heat etc ,it will for sure hold its own under the cowl of my pampered 260 ! lol.
