View Full Version : Mercury Tech small motor question
I have a friend's grandson wanting to fish high school bass tournaments. We have his great grandfather's motor but it needs a part that seems to be NLA. Merc 110 serial 7104498, switch box #339 5267A3. According to my info the motor is a 72-73. The part for the 74-85 is available. Anyone know for sure if the later switch box will work. Hate to guess at it cuz it's kinda pricey. Thanks
Would be very interested if someone has a used one they would part with that has insulation on the wires. This one works just bare wires everywhere so it would only be a matter of time. Thanks again.

You can get by for a while by using liquid electrical tape. It is a neat product that you paint on and it turns to a rubbery coating on the wire. It is tuff and flexible too.

Have an old parts list for those and also have a ton of old obsolete Merc parts at work, so a serial number would go a long way. :)

Guess I need to learn how to read.lol:D so I smacked myself on the head and went home and dug out an old Sierra parts book. They say ser# 5206550 and up take switch box 18-5789, Merc cross came out to339-6222A10. Baised on ser number I would say it would work but not sure what number you looked up for the newer motors.

Seems from what I read anything prior to ser#5206550 had points.

Thanks Dave. According to Pro Marine 3795659-5206549 cover the 74 -85 model years and use part #114-6222. That same switch box is used on a 2 cyl 4 horse and a 2 cyl 7.5 horse. The cross reference 339-6222A10 is the 114-622 used on the newer models. Makes ya wonder iffn it crosses over to the next available part why it would not be included in that group. Appreciate your effort Dave. Looks like the info I needed.
