. I might be interested in buying this boat..anyone have any thoughts on it? How fast should it go? Can you water-ski behind it? Anything I should look for? Thanks for any info...

Surely someone here has an opinion? Is this the boat in the flyer that had an optional inboard..that's a lil weird

Don't recall Charger ever doing an I/O version of that hull, I could be wrong though.
youre not likely going to get much feedback. That hull was made in Canada, by Charger and very few, if any ever ended up south of the border.
Send Murph a PM. He worked at Charger when that hull was built. He may have some insight for you. I know of an SV that runs hi 80's with a Bridgeport.
Nice boat.

Like Allstock said, check out FBC or HPBC. You'll likely get a lot more input.

X3 on the Canadian sites. That is a rare find, and they seem to run fairly well with some power. Motor looks like an excel 225, which should be potent enough. Murph probably has the info you seek on the hull, and the expertise to fix whatever may be wrong with it, he'd be a great reference.

Sure you could water ski with it. You should check the condition of any old boat. It could easily need core, floor, transom, the usual.

Rare one for sure with the Mod V bottom.
I wonder where those molds went after Charger?
Any idea David?
Always have to check condition, it's just a case of knowing what your looking at or for.

I know tempest has the Vee version. There was a real summerford version for sale here on SF not so long ago. I think it went pretty good...

you our don't see many of either version around.

Yes I agree that it does look like an excell which means 220 HP I do believe.

I lose Dok! I almost always do when I attempt to usurp your Yamaha knowledge :)

The ad says the motor is a 250 ? I googled images of it and it looks like a year 2000..not sure if rare means it's a good boat...maybe it's rare for a reason..lol. I tried fast boats Canada and registering was disabled :confused: ...seems like a secret society..:leaving:

The motor is older..late 80's. It's a 225 excel and they are great motors. It's likely the same year as the boat. Find out the year of the boat. The early chargers were a very well built boat...but they are getting old so you'll need to be thorough in your check over. I'm really not sure how they run but they are a good size and look like they would take modern big block power nicely.

Back in the day a friend had one with a 300 V-8 Evinrude on it, ran mid-eighties I believe.

I've been around a few. Solid boats - agreed speak to Murph.
Not as fast as the 18' Charger STV, but its a much bigger boat. That setup should be good for high 70's I would think.
Its never going to set the water on fire, but as a larger ski/speed/family boat I think they're pretty decent.

Ive got a vee version of that and its a great all around boat. Plenty of room, seats 4-5 and quite good in the chop we get around here. I imagine that hull would be even more stable. Check it out real good. From the factory the stringer in mine wasn't glassed over on the ends. Open wood and wet the whole length, so I did stringer, floor and transom/ knees. Lots of room for removing weight, im down approx. 350 lbs since I bought mine.

Like everyone has said though, check it out really well and make sure its solid. Would make you a good boat if it is! post some pics of the rear pad area too I wanna see what it looks like
