optimum beginning throttle plate air gap prior to setting idle timing/ in gear RPMs?
such as "Throttle plate open 1/8" /TPS set @ .250V"
Reading the manual I have it makes no mention of a starting point adjustment

ive built over 200 laser efi motors and thats the first time ive ever heard tha on a efi thats not a down draft
Doesnt your motor have air holes in the throttle plates?

its a laser fuel injection system! it has two pairs of butterflys, no holes it regulates itself via TPS (throttle position sensor) which is set with a fluke or the like at a 1/4 of a volt its spring loaded and this regulates low speed rpms

Yea I had the plenum all apart 2 years ago and I don't remember any holes in the throttle plates . TPS is set at .250 volts with port side temp sensor disconnected per book . In the morning boat starts and runs great but when the afternoon heat comes engine gets hard to start and is smokey at first when it does fire up like fuel mixture is too rich . My thinking was to allow more air in to intake to allow easier starting but it sounds like adjusting the TPS voltage lower to lean out the idle fuel delivery is possibly the way to go . VST was cleaned / rebuilt 2 years ago and fuel pressure regulator was also replaced .
I added a Klixon thermostat mounted to the engine block to interrupt pulsing the injectors when the "Starter" is energized
so as not to add additional fuel during start up when the engine is warmed up. This helped some but it still seems to be slightly rich on start up in warm weather .
