I have a 23' Sanger alley cat with twin 200efi's. Engines mounted close together in tunnel. 6" manual jack plates, propshaft even with sponsors. 30p 3 blade cleavers. coned 1.87 lowers. I am getting 73mph at 5,900rpm. Equals 18% slip I think. Has a hard time getting out of the hole. I have hull mounted water pickups so I can go up or down as much as needed. If there is anybody that has advice on what to adjust next. I'm looking for better holeshot, less slip, more mph. What could be holding me back?

heavy boat you need choppers for bow lift

I tried a pair of worked 3 blade merc choppers. Slightly better holeshot than cleavers and 72mph. I felt like the cleavers got more of the boat out of the water. Both were slipping about the same. Do I need to move motors up? Or down?

Don't know the boat, but with that much slip I would be moving the motors down a notch. Will the bow lift at all? Might need more leverage to bring the bow up also. Just guessing here.

325369Don't give up on choppers,my eliminator spun a 28 merc chopper 85mph on the limiter, put a mazco 29 re3 on it and it ran 96 mph at 6200,take pics of it and we will all try to help you figure it out,how much setback are you running?

you might try putting a little cup in the props. Sounds like you need to hold the water on a little longer

wideglide, was that big gain due to more lift with the mazco? or it allowed you to trim more? im just trying to determine what to look for when im testing different props

your boat is just at the speed where the tunnels start to pop the boat up onto air instead of water, after it starts to fly positive trim is really not needed,i would call hydromotive engineering, they will get you what you need, you will probably be better off with 4blades than three, much better grip and way easier on the gearcases

take some pics of your setup, motors may be too high.
