20ish Ghost with a 20" 225Promax.

Please dont hold me to this but I think the Ghost is 23 and they had to make allowance to let it race the class. I think the added foot was design of transom and not bottom so it was 22 ish:D
You are very correct sir!! 20ish....:D
Its not the boat or motor, it is the driver....;):D
Peter and John (Hangin-N-Bangin) are getting very comfortable, getting things dial in and are really becoming 2 heck of a drivers.....:eek:....

The Ghost is actually 21 and change from bow to transom. The swim platforms are not designed as a running surface as some (non-racers) have suggested. They're from the original Glastron design and were incorporated in part to add buoyancy for the big block jet drives and I/O's they came with. I've owned a 22 Velocity and the Ghost is actually smaller and also smaller than a 22 Progression I believe. The special exception is not the case since it meets the size limit as per OPA measurement specifications. Several of the class 7 racers and the class rep. were very excited when I met with them prior to joining and racing. It is a piece of long Island racing history and true racers appreciate it:)

Its a great running lil 21, and if I ever go for a swim again like last year in AC, I can climb back in easier. The 22 Velocity we had had more running surface and had nice straight line rough water characteristics, but all around I feel the Ghost is a better performer. You had that 22 Apache running hard in Mass, shame about the gearcase. Its built like a tank and with the extra length and weight pushed with that 300 Etec should really shine in Ocean City;)

I like the 2.5 (225 Promax) because its much lighter than a 3L. I like the balance better and that it is less strain on the transom in the rough. I ran a stock 2.5 200 EFI in Atlantic City (3rd place) and Manasquan (2nd place) so huge horsepower isn't necessary in the open water.

Keith, if you are serious I have a ready to break-in 2.5 225HP power head custom built by James Perry at IPM. It has been sitting just in case one of the guys needed something ASAP that we can have Mario mount on one of my 20" mids as a loaner to make the race.
For those that do not know James Perry he is one of the most talent machinist and engine builder out there. Only 3 guys will ever touch my blocks....Diamond, James or Rich.
PS; Also like to mention that Mario IPM builds a good motor, has tons of knowledge on race setups and has always been very helpful on getting these guys out to make races!

Tony that is the nicest and most generous offer I have ever received. Thank you so much but I am always afraid to use other people's things. I was hoping that my X would be legal so I would just have to change my setup and test. A whole new motor and setup will take a lot of time to compete with these guys. Nobody can just jump in and expect good results. I respect everyone who races, between the time, money and talent, it's a lot harder then most think. My Dad raced professionally for over 10 years inshore so I lived it. Would be fun though

I personally would prefer to race the guy next to me rather than the gps screen. I'd love to get a semi-spec class going in OPA. Semi meaning, the hulls we're running, 2.4, 2.5 with the exception of 280's and equal weights rig + crew. Actual weight will be determined to keep speeds in the 65mph range. Those of you who don't like the gps rule, but would actually race in a class like I described, please pm me. I spoke with one of the LI boys this morning who says he's in. I will start a fresh thread when I have more specific details.
Thanks
