FLO-TOUQ II HD SOLID HUB KIT
1.25" prop shaft
Part #840389K06

Will that also work for a 250XS? (2003 model)
I just bought a different prop, first time I've changed since I've owned it. I bought a Flo-Torq 2 kit but the backing plate behind the prop is too small for the shaft.
You've basically got the bowrider version of my boat/motor... What prop & setback do you use? What kind of performance are you getting?

Barry,
My 08 250xs is a 1.25" shaft and in Mercs parts manual it looks like all the 225xs,250xs and 300xs are the same, but maybe not for all the years so measure your shaft as there is a 3/4" and a 1" kit too.

I have a CMC 10" power jack plate, seastar hyd. steering and merc trophy plus props. 23 pitch for water sports and 27 pitch for speed. I have not managed to top the boat out yet as I am still learning to deal with chine walk.

On the Checkmate boat forums there are a number of guys hitting 80-85 with a 250xs on a closed deck 2100 like you have and some a little faster.

They are usually running 14-16" of set back and props shaft is 1-1.5" above the pad on a 27 or 28" 4 blade trophy plus or the 3 blade tempest I think.

You may want to check it out over there.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've been on that forum for several years.
I bought the boat long-distance, the PO claimed that he ran 84-85 consistently. I've only had it out a couple times since I got it. It has 11" of setback (really don't want to add more, that's gotta be a lot of stress), the center of the SM is about 1" above the bottom, and it came with a 26" Trophy Plus. I haven't really had a chance to wring it out, best I've seen is 81.4 but there was a lot of lake traffic and I couldn't really wind it out. I think I was on the rev limiter, it's set at 5900 on a 2003 I believe and that's where I stopped. I found a 27" TXP OT4 for a really good price from a member here, so I thought what the heck, I bought it... but I have yet to try it.

Not too many Checkmates out West, besides the two I've owned I've only ever seen two others. There was a dealer in Alberta many years ago, and still is one in Sask. but they are not a popular boat out here.

So, I also bought long-distance and drove two days to the Chicago area(Madison Wisconsin) to pick my current one up and bring her home 2 years ago.
