I have a pair of 2011 Optimax 250's. Other than a new transducer for the Mercury smart box depth readings, there have been no modifications, nor any noticeable failures in performance. However, I keep hearing a short beep and seeing an alarm message on my smart system display. It says "System Alarm" Going to current or history alarms shows "STBD FAULT 236 Stop CKT Active." I did a search for the code, but did not find any information. Does anyone have a list of code descriptions for Opti's to translate the fault code? Thanks very much.

My mechanic said the Mercury code chart showed that might be the cause. It was interesting to note this alarm sounds only when the engines are at idle, not when the boat is moving or bouncing in the waves. So, a loose kill switch doesn't seem intuitive. Also, neither engine skips or hiccups, which one could expect when a kill switch is acting up. But, with today's electronics, strange current flows can trigger an alarm. So, we'll test the switch or replace it to see if the alarm stops. Thanks!
