Hi!

I am working on a project for next year involving a Skater 24 and twin Promax 2.5 litre. The engines are modified and pull 308 HP each on the dyno. What kind of speed should be expected?

Cheers from Norway, Toffen

Their is one in Toronto that I know with a pair of ported 2.5 260's runs 114 on radar, in fresh water. These motors make about 300-310 hp.

The boat is a weapon.

I had a friend with a 24 Skater and twin stock 260's(non-rev limiting chips). He was running some very expensive 32p Mercury Lab Cleavers. I rode in the boat and personally saw the GPS read 111 mph!!!! Wow, what a ride it was. We routinely hit 108 and 109. I couldn't believe it, but I saw it with my own eyes. Those boats are awesome and we had a ton of fun in it!! He also had a little setback as well, not much though. Good Luck

Hi!

Thanks for replies. Do you know how much setback they use? I presume they use manual powerlifts. The boat and engines will be imported from Dubai over the winter.

I have read in Screamandflyoffshore that a Skater 28 with twin Promax 300X topped at 119 mph. With the correct prop, tuning, setup and driver - maybee 120 mph should be within reach?

How are the Skater in heavy seas? 4-5 footers.

Cheers, Toffen

My friends boat only had about 2 to 4 inches of total setback via two manual jackplates.

Good Luck,

Toffen,

I run 6" setback on my 21 Liberator with twins. They sit on a manual plate and turn 30" Cleavers inward.

You may need to experiment with turning the props inward or outward to get best performance. Don't forget the hydraulic steering!

Twins are a lot of fun but they are truley twice the cost.

Toffen, are you upgrading from the Phantom?

Toffen, I have been working on my boat for a year now. It is a 25 foot motion cat with three 2.5efi offshore merc. I run them on 6 inch cmc manual jack plates. My motors have been ported, and some head work with svs intakes. Boxes are a-48. I will try 14.5x32 cleavers first. I am waiting on steering right now.Don't know what to expect about top speed but think I will have quite a bit of mid-range acceleration. Let me know how yours run when you get it all together.

Sounds like you'll have a great unit when you're done. Our Tunnel Boat Design software should do a good job at performance and stablity prediction. If you'd like to send me some of your hull and engine specs by email, I'd be happy to run the analysis for you.

Hi Toffen!

Lovely to hear you say you are in a cat one day!

Besides, have you seen something to Espen? He had his boat in Lillesand for a month. It was located at Klingsund!

I have mounted the new stakes at the bottom of my Gilbert and that was fun!!! 73,3 knots!!

Cheers, Erik
