After Bush's speech lastnight.....I don't believe it's going to be as big a deal as Saddam would have us believe.
Basically, Bush told Saddam to get out and "encouraged" his military leaders to "help" him along (by any means necessary if you read between the lines).
Then he offers to spare any Iraqi military that will follow our Military's instructions and not engage us..........
I think thats a no brainer there. If I was an Iraqi soldier lookin' up at a U.S. fighter jet, I'd be doing "sand angels" with white flags on each hand and foot:eek:

My "use the left over bombs on France" comment was really not meant to start such a controversial thread...

I wouldn't waste one bomb or even the fuel to get it there on France... but some serious economic sanctions might be appropriate... they've been providing Irag with Nuclear technology and advanced avionics, not to mention solid propellant for long range missiles... and no telling what else, all in exchange for favorable oil/energy agreements. The French have been caught with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar... in my opinion, we'll probably have a lot more info in the coming weeks that will explain the French resistance to the US proposals over the past few weeks..

Sorry I couldn't respond yesterday to the original thread, but I appeciate those of you who did, in my absence...

I am pissed at the French for another reason. They have some of the best chemical and biological weapons expertise and their special forces are excellent and well trained. I for one wish they were with us.

As well as the rest of the World. You can't simply choose just to live in peace. It's not that simple. We didn't ask for this **** but we can't ignore it any longer. It has been going on for decades but it is now to a point where these "incidents" are much more powerful and have the capability to be worse than the World has ever seen. We have the ability to stop it now and we're going to. It's called an attitude adjustment. I've been for this war for a long time but the reality of it hit very hard last night when I started thinking about the people of Iraq. I can only imagine what life is like for them now but have a firm handle on what life is like for me. I would rather die than end up in their situation; so I can only assume that they would be willing to die to be in ours. Passivism has never worked against aggression.

I never saw the original thread, but I agree with Liqui-Fly. The attitude of "others will treat you the way you treat them" will not work in this type of situation. This is not Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. I wish it was, but the brutal reality is that our "neighbors" that are bloodthirsty liars. Peace through good intent does not work; peace through strength and zero tolerance of people like Hussein and Hitler DOES work.

All of the flower children wannabes who are protesting just for protestings' sake should stop and think for a second about whether they'd have the right to protest if our forefathers had held their same beliefs of "war is never justified". ****, we'd be living on our own Animal Farm in the year 1984. And make no mistake---it doesn't matter what evidence was presented or what threat looms, these people would still just sit there and continue to say war is never justified, even as they were being taken prisoner by terrorists. They'd be saying, "Well......at least we never hurt anybody." Yeah, right........

The way Bush addressed everyone last night was totally awesome. The implication that the UN has proven itself worthless and incapable of solving the problem was damn near priceless. He has also been quoted as saying that "when it comes to our security, we don't need anybody's permission." It would not be possible to state this any better.

By the way G-Train, Dot Heads are Hindus. Different than the Muslims but still united in the hatred toward America.

I have to go to school with a bunch of these people that think war never solves anything. Well, if we would have stomped these terrorists out when they blew up a few embassies and a US Navy warship then we might not be in the same position we are now. These people are like cancer in that if you let them grow and don't stop them early then the only way to get rid of them is take extreme measures. I am not going to throw some war party, but I do think it is neccessary at this point. Iraq has had over a decade to live up to UN madates that the UN was never strong enough to enforce. The French have made there money by dealing with Iraq and so did we back in the early 80's, the difference between the French and us is we know when to crash the party with a good old fashion brawl. I don't mind people disagreeing with the idea of going to war, but don't disrespect the men and women who where the uniform and go in harm's way to defend the freedom of this nation. Where are all the people that asked "Why measures were not taken to PREVENT 9/11?" Well, the only way you prevent such attacks is preemptive strikes such as the one we are undertaking in Iraq. Lastly, some of us may differ in opinion, but that does not personal bashing. We are all different...deal with it.
