Vacationing in Phoenix AZ

This October/November we are going to Pheonix AZ and looking for information on what to see other than the Grand Canyon! Isn't this the place for the drags at Firebird Lake, and if so where can we find the racing events dates and information? Also how far is this from Phoenix? Please cc reply via e-mail.
