Hey all,
I've got a 5.4 Triton out of a Ford F-350. The motor is complete other than some small pieces here and there that were needed when it was swapped out. It's sitting on a stand in my garage. It supposedly had a ticking in it (rod? lifter?). I would like to move it. Anyone know what it's worth as is? Would be a great rebuildable motor or project car motor.
Thanks!

If its a 3 valve motor, the ticking is probably cam phazers.

It is. I wasn't sure what the issue might be.

I had an 04 5.4 and my cousin has a 06 5.4. Both of them when started they would clatter but I WAS TOLD ????? it was from the oil draining out the engine and it was a "dry start"... BTW I did manage to find out a 5.4 can go 21000 miles without an oil change before it tears its self apart. Ask my EX OLD LADY lol! I loved my 5.4 too

lol ... 5.4's run good but have a few issues like anything else . Spit spark plugs into the hood . Injectors tick bad on the 09's. Since new . 130k on mine . Hot 93 tune , ram air , exhaust and piss beat out of it everyday with 40 miles one way to work . All ways change oil . Might have to bump this thread when it hits 250k
