Hello everyone I am getting a 21 skater w 300xs please some feedback on which props to use gear ratio 1.75. Prop that is best w 4 people in the boat to cruise and get out of hole. Best prop for top end alone or w one passenger. Thank you everyone. Brian.

I think its going to be tough to beat a drag four for all around use and maybe a worked hydromotive or four blade herring for running up top when its light.

Back in 2004 I had a new extreme with 1.62 I remember being slughy getting out of the hole and w people on the back. It's been a while since I have had a 21 w a 300 and some guys I know down here are running 1.75 with 30 and 34 bravo better hole shot. I am wondering myself as other friends say use the 1.62.

Anybody run a 3 or 4 blade cleaver on a 21?

I talked to Dave Dewald today, he has castings in stock now. I am getting a 15 inch 34 four blade from him for my river rocket that's being set up with an X. He is less money then Hering (still expensive) and is a great guy to deal with.

Brian. I think you should go with 1.75 lower. when I had a single opti turd I ran a 1.75. I tried a 1.62 at least 3 times and never got on plane with a 26p prop. I know a skater is much lighter then my eliminator. but a 300xs has no torque under 3000rpm. even at the 6400 limiter with a 1.75. a 32 to 34p prop will get you running 100 to 106. I think with a 1.62 you wont be able to turn over a 30p anyway so there would not be a gain in top end. but you will be a slug on take off.

MiamiStv,
Be careful with using a round ear thru-hub. I have used them on my 28 (29" Herring 4 blades) and they are very sluggish getting on plane till they break loose. Not much exhaust down there. I really like the set of 30" dewalds (4 blade cleavers) they push the boat right up on plane. My 34 Dewalds work good to but I like the 30's for running offshore and when I am carrying a load. Cannot beat the acceleration!

If you decide on cleavers call Dave. He is a great guy and his props have been tested by many Skater owners. Nothing will run better!

I have a 24, and two 300X motors. I run 15x34 Mercury Racing 4 blade cleavers ... 107 mph at 6400 rpm. SportMaster gear cases (1.62) which are counter rotating (out) with ZERO toe in/out. Gear case noses are aimed 1 1/4" above the bottom of the boat. No jack plates, no set back needed. I also have a tunnel tab that helps me thru the hops (which show up about 80ish). Above 90, no tab needed as the boat runs flat and just wants more Horsepower. This is a TOP END setup and not useful to either run slow or tow skiers or inflatables. This is NOT a ski boat, it is a fast stable lake rocket ... while it is a one trick pony, it's a damn good trick, and I never get tired of how it feels to blow off every bass boat that shows up.

You may want to take another look at your setup or props. Those are not good numbers for a 24 with 300x motors.....

Just wondering if you are talking about a Skater 24, or a Liberator 25? Speed Jr. is right, other Skater 24s are running 120+ with those X motors.

The Mercury four blades props are terrible for top speed. Mercury Lab three blades are a lot faster. I have tried those four blades on at least four different boats and have not liked them for top speed or the stern lift they have. Cruising they are good.

Larry and brad are correct I had 4 blade cleavers on 23 daytona and they were good all around prop top end mph was not good as 3 blade cleaver,10 mph less

Anyone have any real numbers? I wanna run a Dewald 4 blade on my 21 skater w a 15" 300xs.. Do u think 35 is too much? Or should I go 33? Already have a 34.. I will mostly run with a small passenger

Both will be too much wheel with a 1.62 unless you bring the dia. down.
