Funny how things go. Back in the late 90's when Mercury came out with these you could barely give them away. Same with the 200ss. Hind site and timing is everything!

I bought a 20" motor today, I'll look for a 15" mid section later in the Spring.

Was it a 20" Promax 150? Didn't think Mercury did that.
Good luck on the 15" mid set up. I'm looking for one also and know of at least two others looking!

Onetime, I thought you told me all of those 150 and 200 Promax motors were 15" mids?

Thats the only way I remember them being available from Mercury. Never saw a 20" version of the 150 and the 200, only the 225. They were marketed towards Allison boats to lower the cg.

Maybe someone made the one he bought into a 20". I remember, by adding a Bay Manufacturing 5" extension kit, converting two of the 200's into 20". Wish I still had one of those 15" mids!

Lol no the 150 and 200 Promax came out in 1994 and they were both 20" motors. The 225 Promax came out in 1995 as a 20" motor as well. The shortshaft versions of the Promax's came out in 1997 The 150 PM SS was built from 1997 & 1998. I still have all of the Mercury hi-Perf brochures and got to go to LakeX in late 1994 to test the Sportmaster gearcase before it came out. The first Promax motors had CLE gearcases.http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag197/paultnichols1/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02/78738183-7DBC-4D14-9FD5-5298A97A492E_zpspftkzquw.jpg (http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/paultnichols1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02/78738183-7DBC-4D14-9FD5-5298A97A492E_zpspftkzquw.jpg.html)

yep .... ran a 20" pro max 150 all last year ....really pissed off a few 200/ 225's
on the river!
was told some of the 150's were so strong ......they could have been sold as 200.
10% of 200 is 20, 200-20 ==180 hp 150 promax.
we got one fo sho.

Wouldn't that be the other way around. 10% of 150 eguals 15, +150 = 165 hp pro max 150. I might be wrong.
