Hey guys, if you had a Johnson motor around the 1995 to 1998 era, how would you determine what year/model/hp a motor is? The serial number on the swivel bracket says J150GLEOM which is a 1995 150 but...the motor has a 97/98 Venom 200 cowl, a powerpack for a 1998 225 (CD6AL/67 586212), con rods for a 2000 200hp Ficht ( 337518), and a bore of 3.705...which would lead one to assume 200 since, I think, the bore would be 3.600 for a 150. Is there any way to determine what year it is? I think the block has a mold marks on it that say 33614, as well as 29 DX1, and C382. The guy I bought the boat from said it was a 1998 but I would like to make sure because I'm in the middle of ordering parts and not sure which set of rod bolts to order.

Secondly because of the con rods being off a 2000, I would assume the bolts that fit those connecting rods should be used, as well as their torque spec?

Post a picture. The 150-175 is 60* 200-225 is 90*. There are ways to tell the rough year of a looper block.

Got the number off the core plug?

I think the number off the core plug is 33416, but I'm not positive. I saw it on the top last night but I can't remember at the moment. Also says 29 DX1 on the cylinder side case.

If all 90* are 200-225 then it's going to be a 200-225. As for the year I should be able to upload a few pictures soon as I get off work.

Here's the motor just prior to getting pulled off. If you need anything else to find out the year let me know. Secondly if anyone has any idea what rod bolts I should use, I would appreciate it, beca

Link don't work. If you have a set of the 88'-92'.? Big rods I'd use them. Way less chance of breaking the rod if you stick a piston.

Maybe this will work? No spare rods, but getting a new set isn't out of the question...might help with the whole rod bolt dilemma I'm facing.

I can't tell everything from that picture but definitely 93'-01'ish closed deck.

Okay, is there anything that might help narrow it down? Secondly, you wouldn't happen to the know part number for a port head, would you? Seems a retaining decided to go rogue and knocked it out of commission

Last three are depends on the year, but typically the last three digits are 839.

Take the # of the swelch plug and call BRP they can tell you what motor it is off the # if it's not a model #
