DDT question for Mercury 280/260?

Happy New Year!!

I would like to check the hours on a 2002 Mercury 280. The engine is sitting on the bench. Normally I would hook the DDT to the pigtail connection and just key-up. How do I key-up from the bench without removing the unit and swapping it over to another boat with a full setup? :confused:

Not sure but I think you just need power to the ECU (purple wire) At the most just hook up a set of battery leads battery and the plug in harness I'd think.

I guess then I'll hook then battery leads to the starter and give it a try? Anybody else ever done it this way before I try.
